The Most Popular Blog Posts in 2023

Seventeen years ago tomorrow, I sat down in our little office in our first home in the suburbs of Austin, Texas and wrote the very first blog post on Everyday Reading.

Since then, there have been lots of changes – I started adding photos to my post (something I virtually never did for the first several years), social media platforms entered the scene (who would have ever imagined I’d make so many short-form videos back then!), I think about things like SEO and email, and it’s shifted from a fun little hobby to a full-fledged career.

I think one of the big reasons that I’m still blogging all these years later is that it’s never boring – the changes are what keeps it fun and engaging (and, of course, sometimes stressful!) for me.

And one of the fun things for me is seeing which posts are the most popular each year. So in honor of 17 years of Everyday Reading, here are the 17 most popular posts over the last 12 months – some of them are old staples that continue to bring in new visitors year after year while some of them are new posts that have shot to the top of the charts within just a few months of being published!

THE 17 MOST POPULAR POSTS ON EVERYDAY READING THIS YEAR

All about Stuff Your Kindle Day
This post was a last minute post I wrote because I was getting so many questions about Stuff Your Kindle Day (psst, another one will be coming up in December!) and then this post got picked up by Google and went absolutely BANANAS. When I pulled up my site traffic the next day, my eyes seriously bugged out of my head.

How to Share an Audible Books With a Friend
This post is just the gift that keeps on giving – year after year, it tops the charts as one of the very most popular posts (even though Audible has mostly killed this feature so it’s not even a very useful post anymore).

My 8 Favorite Pairs of Shoes
I was SHOCKED to see this post show up this high – I knew I loved shoes, but I had no idea it’d be this popular! This post leans more toward summer shoes since I wrote it in the summer so I think it’s time to do a fall/winter version too!

10 of My Favorite Meals for Large Groups
This one was a top performer last year, but not nearly this high up. I’m thrilled to see it climbing the charts because there are few things I’m more passionate than having people over and creating community and relationships. I hope it makes it easier to feed a big group with as little stress as possible!

The 2023 Printable Reading Log
This was BY FAR the most popular reading log we’ve ever released and the data backs it up. If you missed it for 2023, you can grab an undated copy here and use it whenever you’d like!

Kindle 101: Everything You Need to Know About How a Kindle Works
This was a new post this summer and it was SO FUN to write because I love Kindle readers and answering alllllll the questions about them and it feels great to have all those answers in one place now. (In fact, I did a Yoto 101 post a few months later!).

25+ Unique Historical Fiction Books
This is another one that surprised me by going up the charts so fast. I wrote this post earlier this summer and then Google picked it up and it’s been a heavy hitter ever since!

The 2023 Summer Reading Guide
This is the third year in a row that the current Summer Reading Guide makes the most popular posts list and it always thrills me because the Summer Reading Guide is the biggest project of the year for me and it’s a delight to see it help so many people find fun things to read!

Where You Can Get a Non Resident Library Card
I’m actually NOT surprised to see this one on here because the reel I made to go along this (which, to be honest, was a pretty stupid reel that took me about 5 minutes to make) went viral and sooooo many people requested the link to this post. If you want to bulk up your library card collection, this post is for you!

20+ Best Audiobooks for a Family Road Trip
This one barely made the top 12 list in 2020 and then has been super popular ever since. There is something truly magical about listening to something on a road trip together and I’m delighted to be able to share some ideas with you for your family road trips!

50 Books for Couples to Read Together
This was a new post last fall and I’m so happy to see it do so well because there’s nothing quite like sharing a book with the person you love!

The Road Trip Summer Reading Chart
This summer’s reading chart was off-the-charts good and I’m so happy it was so popular. I’m already excited to see what next summer’s looks like!

Everything You Should Know About Kindle Rewards
THIS post was a surprise to me on this list. It’s also a fairly new post and Google is pushing this one hard (I think there’s also not a TON of content on this topic so it’s not too hard for it to rise to the top of the search results).

39 Books If You’re Getting Back Into Reading
This blog post was an absolute delight to write – I loved picking my top three books in 13 different categories, depending on what you like to read. I had no idea it’d be so popular but I’m HERE for it!

How To Remove Ads From a Kindle
Kindle ads are something you either never think about or that make you CRAZY. If you’re in the latter category, here’s how to get rid of them!

How to Host Anything
This post is OLD (I wrote it back in 2014) and it’s fun to see that it is still going strong. I truly think inviting people into your home is the #1 easiest way to make friends and it doesn’t have to be complicated.

Most of all, thank you, thank you, thank you for being here, whether you’ve been here for years or just stopped by for the first time today. I love my job and I’m well aware that you’re the reason I get to do this every day. Thank you for being the best community of readers and book lovers on the planet.
