Stuff Your Kindle Day (i.e. Free Kindle Books!)

Have you heard about Stuff Your Kindle Day?

It’s an event for romance readers that happens four times a year and on that day THOUSANDS of ebooks are free.

And this isn’t a lending type of situation – on Stuff Your Kindle Day, you can buy them exactly like a normal Kindle book except that they cost zero dollars and then you own them forever and can read them at your leisure.

Even better, you don’t need a Kindle e-reader to buy or read them, so whether you’re waiting for a smoking Prime Day deal on a Kindle or prefer reading on your phone or tablet, you can still take advantage.

This is not an Amazon sponsored event, so you don’t need to be a Prime member or have a Kindle Unlimited membership to take advantage of these free books. And there aren’t limits on the number of books that can be sold because they’re digital copies and the more that “sell” the better for the author when it comes to moving their books up the Amazon charts.

The reason Stuff Your Kindle Day happens is that indie authors and small romance authors and publishers work together to put this on in order to get attention on their books (with, of course, the hope that you’ll go on to read/buy/recommend their books).

This also means that you’re not likely to see big-name best selling titles on this list (Emily Henry has zero incentive to give her books away for free when they’re selling like hot cakes), but it IS a great way to take a chance on new authors or titles you might not pick up at $9.99 but are interesting looking enough to grab for free!

Romance Bookworms has put together a massive categorized list of the romance titles that are included in the Stuff Your Kindle Day sale (seriously, it is THOUSANDS), so you can easily navigate to the romance categories you like, whether that’s sweet romances (which means no open door scenes) or fantasy romance or romantic suspense.

AND they’ve included keywords for each title so you can search (use command or control + F to search) for books that include favorite sub-genres/tropes like “forced proximity” or “fairy tale retelling.”

You may notice as you look up the Stuff Your Kindle books on Amazon that many of them are included in Kindle Unlimited – you can still go ahead and “buy” them for free and then if and when you cancel your Kindle Unlimited subscription, you’ll still have access to them because you own them, rather than just reading them through your subscription membership.

(By the way, if romance isn’t your thing, there is a similar event coming up in July for cozy mystery books and you may find the occasional non-romance book included for free today as other indie writers and publishers try to take advantage of all the buzz around Stuff Your Kindle Day).

Any questions about Stuff Your Kindle day? Happy to help you stuff your e-reader by snagging some books for free! And I’d love to know what free e-books you picked up!
