My 8 Favorite Pairs of Shoes

I firmly believe that shoes make or break an outfit, and if there’s anywhere I’m willing to spend money in my closet, it’s on my shoes.

I have no time these days for uncomfortable or ill-fitting shoes and I also won’t wear an ugly shoe, no matter how comfortable it is.

I’m generally on the more casual side, clothing wise, but I don’t want sloppy.

Here are the shoes that have earned their current place in my closet:

favorite women's shoes

Ecco Sneakers. These sneakers are the MVP of classic white sneakers. I bought these just before our London trip in 2021 and have worn them a million times since then, from all over Japan to hiking in Southern Utah. They’re super comfortable, go with everything, have no break in time, and wash up like a dream (yes, I put them in the washing machine, even though they’re leather – I have all the details about washing my shoes here).

Kizik Prague Sneakers. I love these sneakers (especially that they’re hands free for putting them on and taking them off) and I love having them in a fun color (mine are lavender). I think they’re just about as comfortable as the Eccos and they’re cheaper too (my code is EVERYDAYREADING10). I have a whole post about them here if you want ALL the details.

Cole Haan Grand Crosscourt Sneaker. These are a new shoe for me but cemented my love of Cole Haan shoes and instantly became a shoe staple for me. The gold accents make them a little more fun than a basic white sneaker but still neutral enough to match with everything.

Lucky Brand Mahzan LoaferLucky Brand Mahzan Loafer. These are a perfect year round shoe – they are a great neutral, look good with everything and the heel and side cut outs make them a little special and more dressy. They’re WAY more comfortable than my Madewell loafers that took me literally 9 months to break in.

Cole Haan Flatform SandalsCole Haan Flatform Sandals. These are a fairly new addition to my closet but I’ve worn them nonstop and I love them SO much. They required zero breaking in, they’re easy to walk in (I’ve done multiple miles, no problem!), and they dress up or down really easily. These are for sure my most worn summer shoes!

Born Margot Sandals. To be honest, I don’t wear these nearly as much as the above mentioned Cole Haan Flatform sandals, but in the rare case that I want something flat, these are the ones I reach for. Born sandals are super well made and comfortable, although I found that the back strap of these needed a bit of breaking in when I first got them.

Reef Sandals. I bought these waterproof sandals last summer and have worn them endlessly – they are cute, comfortable and perfect for the beach, boating, water parks, or any other outdoor activities. Several teachers told me they were their go to warm-weather school shoe because they’re so comfortable! They come in a whole bunch of colors and I love that they’re waterproof and stay on (I can’t do backless shoes).

Marc Fisher Block Heel Pumps. I don’t wear heels all that often but if I need a dressy shoe, this is my favorite one. The pointed toe is the perfect shape and the block heel makes them way easier to walk in than a spindly little stiletto heel. I have them in both the black suede and the navy suede.

Are these the only shoes in my closet? No – I have probably a dozen or more other shoes, but these are the ones I reach for again and again and love the very most!

I’d love to hear what shoes YOU love most!
