My Summer Capsule Wardrobe
Warmer weather is HERE (we’re hitting the low 90s most days which feels hot to me now and would have made me put on a sweater when we lived in Arizona) and last week, I went through my closet and put together my summer capsule wardrobe.
If you missed my post about switching to a capsule wardrobe, it’s right here.
I tried to keep my summer wardrobe pretty simple with things I really like wearing. I like having less choices every morning and feeling like every item in the closet is one I’m delighted to wear.
Here’s what my Summer Capsule Wardrobe includes (for a total of 50 items which was an unintentionally round number):
- 10 tee shirts
- 10 blouses
- 1 sweatshirt
- 4 jackets (jean jacket, leather jacket, olive utility jacket, and fleece pullover)
- 2 cardigans
- 7 skirts
- 2 jumpsuits
- 7 dresses
- 5 pairs of jeans
- 2 pairs of shorts
I also have several pairs of sneakers, sandals, and flats plus some fun accessories like hats and hair ties. And of course, this doesn’t count pajamas, workout clothing, or swimwear.
What I added to my summer capsule wardrobe this year:
One thing that has become very clear to me as I do a capsule wardrobe is that I have PLENTY of clothing. For instance, with the number of tops I have, I could go 3 weeks without repeating. That’s a long time!
So I’ve tried to be pretty cautious about buying a lot of new things. Here’s what I added this year (and they’ve all gotten lots of wear already, which makes me feel good – it means they were solid additions, not just random purchases).
- Graphic tee (J Crew via thredUP)
- White espadrille sneakers (Superga via thredUP)
- Leopard sandals (Steve Madden via thredUP)
- Black jumpsuit (Old Navy via thredUP)
- White dress (Anthropologie via thredUP)
Have you tried a capsule wardrobe? I’d love to hear your tips!
I love reading anything about capsule wardrobes! What I’d really love is pictures of your outfits…how you put those items together, mix and match , etc.
I’ll be showing my outfits on IG stories all summer – keep an eye out!
