A Summer Weekend of BIG Book Deals
This is a BIG weekend for book deals because Audible has their huge sale going on (literally every book is on sale – here are my favorite picks for under $5 and many of them under $1) and LibroFM has their annual children’s audiobook sale (my favorite picks here and they can be made into Yoto cards!)
The Audible sale ends on Sunday night, so don’t wait on that one!
Here are some of my other favorite book deals going on right now:
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
I was a massive fan of The Martian and LOVED Project Hail Mary just as much too! In this one, Ryland Grace wakes up in a spaceship with no idea where he is, what he’s supposed to do or even what his own name is. As memories slowly start returning, he remembers that the sun was dimming and that there were only a few decades to find both the problem and a solution before life on earth became unsustainable. And he’s now in outer space on a mission alone to save all of humanity. No pressure. It’s full of humor, suspense, and science that’s (mostly) understandable to the layperson.
Tangled Up in You by Christina Lauren
This one was so light and fluffy (it is a retelling of Disney’s Tangled) but it was just SO FUN and enjoyable and one of those books that I blew through in 2 days because it was just pure delight. Funny, romantic, and clever. I can’t ask for more! The entire series (aside from the newest ones) are also on big sale!
Every Falling Star by Sungju Lee
This one is the August pick for the Everyday Reading Book Club, so snag this copy for crazy cheap if you plan to read along with me! The title tells you everything you need to know about this book written by a boy who grew up in North Korea and managed to escape. I cannot wait!
Alcatraz Versus The Evil Librarians by Brandon Sanderson
Ani, my 12 year old, just read and loved this one. Brandon Sanderson is one of Bart’s favorite authors and even though I’m not a huge fantasy reader, I knew it wouldn’t be long before Ani jumped on this series about a foster child who is helping save the world from evil librarians. (This one is a Libro.FM deal so you can use it to make a Yoto card!)
Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera
This was such a fun audiobook listen (it even made my list of top audiobooks from 2024!) because the whole thing is like listening to a true crime podcast. This one got so much buzz and I listened to it this fall and was completely absorbed by it.
Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q. Sutanto
Vera owns a tea shop in San Francisco’s Chinatown. There is nothing she loves more than tea…but after she finds a dead body in her tea shop and steals a piece of evidence, she thinks she can use her detective skills to solve the murder. After buttering up suspects with tea and home-cooked meals, will Vera find out what secrets they are hiding and pin the murderer once and for all?
Beauty by Robin McKinley
I’ve always loved a good fairy tale retelling and this is one of the ones I remember best from my childhood. My mom read this Beauty and the Beast retelling aloud to us and I woke up in the middle of the night to see her reading it in the hallways because she couldn’t wait to see how it would turn out! I love that this one gives you way more backstory for Beauty’s family and I really love her sisters and their sweet relationship. It has such great character development and it’s just a delight all around.
Hamster Princess: Harriet the Invincible by Ursula Vernon
This fractured fairy tale series is one of Ella’s favorites and she’s read and re-read them, reading aloud her favorite lines to me and . . . I have to admit, they are truly laugh-out-loud funny. Don’t let the title fool you – they’re great for boys and girls who love adventure and humor. This one in the series is on sale too! (Plus, this one is a Libro.FM deal so you can use it to make a Yoto card!)
Maame by Jessica George
Analese from the Everyday Reading team mentioned this book earlier this year in a post about what we were all reading and her rave review about this book made me add it immediately to my TBR! The main character is in her 20s and the primary caretaker for her father who has Parkinson’s, until her mother returns from Ghana and Maddie finally has a chance to live the life she’s dreamed of. But, naturally, it’s not going to be what she expected.
One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Imagine if the love of your life died in a plane crash and then, when you’d finally moved on, it turned out he wasn’t dead at all. I stayed up WAYYYYY too late reading this one. . (Full review here).
Sleepover Sleuths (Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew Book #1) by Carolyn Keene
I grew up reading the original Nancy Drew books so it’s fun to see the same characters in this fun version of the mystery stories. This would be perfect for any mystery lover! (This one is a Libro.FM deal so you can use it to make a Yoto card!
Lying Game by Ruth Ware
I had been meaning to read a Ruth Ware book for literally YEARS and finally picked up her 2023 release in the fall and then went on to read most of her books in quick succession. This one, about the dangerous game four girls played in their teen years, has come back with sinister consequences.
