A Weekend of June Book Deals
Happy Saturday!
The book deals just keep coming (don’t miss the last few days of the children’s audiobook sale!) and hundreds of my readers got a Kindle Unlimited deal this week – take two seconds to click the link and see if it offers it to you too!
Here are some other book deals you won’t want to miss:
Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians by Brandon Sanderson – audiobook $1.99
This is one of those books I meant to read for years, and I’m so glad I finally did! Alcatraz is an unhappy foster kid shuffled from house to house. He has a troublesome habit of leaving things around him completely destroyed. His previously unknown grandfather shows up and tells him the world isn’t what it seems and that it is actually controlled by a group of evil librarians. This is a quick read with a fun sense of humor and great characters. This is the first of a five book series. (Full review here)
Beauty by Robin McKinley – audiobook $3.99
I’ve always loved a good fairy tale retelling and this is one of the ones I remember best from my childhood. My mom read this Beauty and the Beast retelling aloud to us and I woke up in the middle of the night to see her reading it in the hallways because she couldn’t wait to see how it would turn out! I love that this one gives you way more backstory for Beauty’s family and I really love her sisters and their sweet relationship. It has such great character development and it’s just a delight all around. (also Spindle’s End by Robin McKinley and Rose Daughter)
Statistically Speaking by Debbie Johnson – audiobook $3.99
History teacher, Gemma, loves solid facts, statistics and order. Maybe because her past is exact opposite of that. She thinks about the baby she gave up at age 16 every single day and even more so now that “Baby” might be her new student. This one surprised me with how much I enjoyed it!
The Strange Case of Origami Yoda by Tom Angleberger – audiobook $3.99
I read this when it first came out and I was working as an elementary school librarian. I knew immediately it would be a hit with my students and I’m pretty sure it never touched the shelf again for the rest of the year! The series starts out with Dwight, a sixth-grade oddball who loves origami. And when he makes an Origami Yoda finger puppet, it suddenly starts to seem that this little paper Yoda can predict the future and give great advice. How could this be!?
Mattimeo by Brian Jacques – audiobook $3.99
This was one of my very favorite series as a child – I’m pretty sure I read a couple of the books at least five or six times. I still have all my original copies (many with the covers totally worn off) and I love them dearly. This one is the third book in the series!
Top Elf by Caleb Zane Huett – audiobook $0.99
This is the Christmas chapter book I read to my girls a couple of years ago and we did a combo of reading aloud and listening to the audiobook, which was very fun. Santa is looking for a successor and he’s opening the position to anyone who wants to apply. But the contest is NOT for the weak of heart!
The Talented Clementine by Sarah Pennypacker – audiobook $3.99
Clementine is kind, artistic, and a little bit unpredictable. Many of her third grade adventures include helping her friends, but this year her grade is putting on a talent show and she is panicking because she doesn’t have one!
The Husband’s Secret by Leanne Moriarty – audiobook $3.99
When Cecilia stumbles across a letter from her husband with instructions to open it only in the event of his death, she has decide if she wants to know the secrets the letter contains.
Falling for Summer series – select audiobooks $2.99
I listened to this one this summer after I had already read The One With the Kiss Cam by Cindy Steel. It was delightful and a perfect summer read. I haven’t read any of the others in the Falling for Summer series, but would love to try some others with this kind of deal!
Wild Robot Protects by Peter Brown – ebook $2.99
In this third installment of the Wild Robot series, is another adventure you don’t want to miss. Roz and the animals feel safe and happy on the island, until dangerous waters surround the island and force them inland, away from a lot of their precious resources.
