4 Books I’m Currently Reading

June is FLYING by – we had Bart’s family reunion and my big girls had church camp and now we mostly are home the rest of the summer, which is my absolute favorite.

I’m hoping to fit in a little more reading over the next few weeks – a summer day with an audiobook and a puzzle is my favorite!

Here are four books I’m reading right now:

The Ruby Prince

The Ruby Prince by Beth Brower
This is the same author as The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion and although the beginning of the first book in this series was a bit slow, I ended up loving it and dove immediately into book two. They’re all included on Kindle Unlimited and I just love her storytelling style. (This was one of the books on my personal Summer Reading List – if you missed that, the post is here!)

These Happy Golden Years by Laura Ingalls Wilder
I’ve been reading the whole series aloud to my girls this past year (we started the first one back in August when school began) and it has been an absolute delight. My girls are losing their minds over watching Laura and Almanzo fall in love and sharing this beloved series from my childhood has been everything I hoped for.

Time Anxiety by Chris Guillebeau
I definitely have time anxiety so the moment I heard about this book I knew it was one I wanted to read. Plus, it’s not that long (the audio is under 6 hours!)

Ghost

Ghost by Jason Reynolds
I read the first book in this series years ago and I’m reading the whole series right now in preparation for July’s book club. This book is about four kids chosen for an elite middle school track team – this is a team that could qualify for the Junior Olympics but only if they can get their acts together.

And here’s what my team is reading right now!

Analese

broken country book

Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall
My goodness, I couldn’t put this book down! It’s a mix of mystery, romance and a lot of impossible decisions. From the jump you know the farmer is dead. But who killed him? The story then jumps back to before, showcasing Beth and Frank’s lovely and long marriage that hasn’t been without challenges, including the loss of their son. They face another bump in the road, when Beth’s teenage love, Gabriel and his son Leo, move back into the small town. A lot of unexpected twists which kept me up reading WAY too late!

Kelsey

Finlay Donovan Digs Her Own Grave by Elle Cosimano
I can’t believe there is already a book #5 in the Finlay Donovan series (and #6 slated to be released in March)! I’m fully invested in these characters and was excited for the audiobook. By now, I know what to expect and think they are undeniably fun! In this installment Finlay and Vero are hoping for a break from crime – until their nosy neighbor, Mrs. Haggerty, is arrested after a body turns up in her backyard. Things get even messier when Finlay’s ex-husband becomes the main suspect. Definitely read this series in order, as each book ties closely to past events.

Win the Inside Game by Steve Magness
I first heard the author of this book, Steve Magness, speak as a guest on a podcast, where his insights on resilience and embracing discomfort with intention immediately caught my attention and led me to explore his book Win the Inside Game. He has a background in coaching and consulting elite athletes. He uses science and organizational psychology as a basis to teach how to better make clear decisions under stress, recovery from setbacks and sustain high performance without burnout.

Kristin

Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister
This book has hooked me from the first chapter! Camilla is heading to her first day back at work after maternity leave when her husband disappears leaving a cryptic note behind. She soon finds out he’s the gunman in a hostage situation and she can’t understand how the man she knows and loves has ended up in this situation.
