8 Fantastic Book Deals for the Beginning of April

After our Australia trip and then a quick weekend in St. George, it has been so nice to be home all week!

I’ve been getting in bed early and reading and cruising through audiobooks like it is my job (oh, I guess it kind of is!).

Here are some of my favorite book deals going on this weekend:

The Chronicles of Narnia Complete Audio Collection by C. S. Lewis
During World War II, four siblings are sent to the countryside of London where they are to be kept safe from the war. One of the children finds a wardrobe that has the ability to transport them to a completely different world called Narnia. This series is full of excitement and adventure and has been beloved for generations. This collection is well worth it with more than 33 hours of run time! (Plus, it’s a Libro.fm book, so you can make your own Yoto card with it!)

Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister
This was my first book by her and I am definitely planning to read more! Camilla is ready to return to work after maternity leave, but her husband is gone with a cryptic note in his place. Moments later, the news breaks: there’s a hostage situation in London… and he’s the gunman. This one is full of twists and secrets!

Beg, Borrow, or Steal by Sarah Adams
This one sucked me in and is by far my FAVORITE book of hers! It’s your classic rivals to lovers trope – but with some depth to it. I absolutely loved it! Although this is book #3 of the When in Rome series, all the books standalone with a few crossover characters. (I also have a 30 second book review of it here)

the phantom tollbooth book

The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster
My mom did the majority of the reading aloud when I was growing up, but this one my dad read to me (and only me!) and I’ll forever have fond memories of it. Plus, it’s just so darn clever.

Tidy Up Your Life: Rethinking How to Organize, Declutter, and Make Space for What Matters Most by Tyler Moore
Just released in January, this organizational book is packed full of practical tips about routines, organization, and cleaning (your physical life and emotional life) from Tidy Dad. His tips give you a whole new mindset on how to make your specific space work best for you – so you can start living a more joyful and tidied life.

Alone

Alone by Megan E. Freeman
This middle grade survival novel written in verse sounds riveting! Twelve-year-old Maddie wakes up to a nightmare: her town has been mysteriously evacuated, leaving her completely alone. With no power, internet, or help, Maddie must rely on her ingenuity, a loyal Rottweiler named George, and her love of books to survive. Facing natural disasters, looters, and crushing loneliness, Maddie’s determination is tested as she fights to endure the most challenging experience of her life. (Plus, it’s a Libro.fm book, so you can make your own Yoto card with it!)

defy the night book

Defy the Night by Brigid Kemmerer
You already know that fantasy isn’t my normal genre, so for a fantasy book to snag a spot on this list? You know it’s good. This one isn’t full-on fantasy – there’s no magic or powers – but it’s set in a fictional world where the kingdom is splintering under the pressure of a mysterious sickness that’s spreading through the kingdom and the only cure is in short supply. The king and his brother took over running the kingdom after their parents were assassinated and they’re holding the kingdom together basically by brute force. Naturally, there are those in the Wilds who are determined to undermine the king’s iron grip on the kingdom. (Full review here)

Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell
I’ve read all of Malcolm Gladwell’s books and I think this one is the best (although if you prefer essay-style to a full-length book, What the Dog Saw is also fabulous). He talks through so many different scenarios of success, from crazy-successful people like Bill Gates to groups where the most successful people are congregated around a specific marker like birth month. The audio on this one is terrific with Gladwell reading it himself.
