What We Gave Ani for Her 10th Birthday
Earlier this week, Ani turned ten! It’s so crazy that half of my children are now in the double digits.
This has been a big year for her as she’s transitioned to a new accelerated school program and she’s been thriving in that new environment.
Nearly every morning, she’s the first child ready for school and is snuggled up in one of the big chairs by the fireplace reading a book until it’s time to leave for school.
She also loves playing Splendor with me, listening to audiobooks in bed, and building complicated LEGO sets.
We celebrated her special day with breakfast in bed, afternoon tea at Taste, and we will be finishing off birthday week with mini lava cakes and ice cream this weekend.
It’s not bad to be ten!

10 Year Old Girl Gifts
A ZIPPERED WALLET
Ani had a wallet on her Christmas wishlist and I was on the hunt for one that didn’t feel too kiddy OR too adult. This one felt just right.
HARRY POTTER LEGO SET
Last year, we gave Ani a LEGO set for her birthday and she spent hours and hours working on it over Christmas vacation. I think she’ll be equally delighted by this year’s!
ZIP UP SWEATSHIRT
Ani had one of these lightweight sweatshirts and wore it non-stop for over a year and then was devastated when the pocket ripped a bit. I was delighted to find an exact replacement in another color.
SLIPPERS
Ani had grown out of her old slippers and she had a new pair on her wishlist. This pair is a similar style to mine and I thought she’d love having something a little more grown up than her old unicorn slippers.
MATCHING ROBES FOR HER & HER AMERICAN DOLL
This was Ella’s idea for a gift for Ani and it was a HUGE hit. Plus, it matches perfectly with her new slippers.
SKETCHBOOK
This was the little girls’ gift to Ani for her tenth birthday – Ani has really gotten into drawing this year and asked for a sketchbook of her own on her Christmas list.
INTERESTING STORIES FOR CURIOUS KIDS
My in-laws always get the grandkids books for their birthdays and I love seeing what they choose! Ani was delighted by this book, plus the LOTS OF KNOCK KNOCK JOKES FOR KIDS books they gifted her.
MINI MODEL GREENHOUSE KIT
My mom and I saw these kits at a little store in San Diego when we were there this fall and my mom commented immediately how much Ani would love it – when it showed up all these months later, I was delighted that she remembered!
