What We Gave Tally for Her 9th birthday
On Tally’s birthday, my mom texted me “I think one’s oldest and youngest are the most shocking as they get older.”
And this feels very true to me.
I can’t believe my baby is 9 years old! A few months ago, she fell asleep during the day and I could still see the last remainders of her baby self in her little cheeks and lips as she was snoozing on the couch.
Here’s what she got for her birthday!

WHAT WE GOT OUR 9 YEAR OLD FOR HER BIRTHDAY

Lola Blanket
I got a Lola blanket as a gift last year and was blown away by how good it is – it is definitely my go-to blanket now. When I asked Tally what she wanted for her birthday, she said “if I can only have one present, I ONLY want a Lola blanket!” Well, her wish came true (my affiliate code is EVERYDAYREADING). Her delight when she opened it was everything I was hoping for.

Calico Critter Cats
Tally and Star spend tons of time with friends playing Calico Critters but we haven’t owned any up until now! This was something that Tally had asked for and we looked through lots of options before settling on this cute cat family.

Calico Critter Grocery Store
Of course, when we were looking through all the Calico Critter products, we couldn’t resist this little grocery store to go along with the cat family. It was a hit!

Up LEGO set
This was Ella’s gift to Tally and amusingly it was a re-gift. Ella got this several years ago and had never even opened it and knew Tally would love it. We kind of hoped that Tally wouldn’t remember, but when she opened it, she said “didn’t you get this a long time ago??” Happily, she was still delighted to do it and has been working on it all week.

Llama Stuffed Animals
This was Ani’s gift to Tally and Tally immediately named the large one Mama Llama and the four small ones Bahama Llama, Pajama Llama, Drama Llama, and Trauma Llama which made us laugh so much!

Cash Register
This was on Tally’s Christmas list and it made another appearance on her birthday wishlist so finally all her dreams came true when Star picked this out for her. The neighborhood kids have made up so many games in the last few days using this!

Lightboard
This was my parents’ gift to Tally and since her sister had gotten one of these for Christmas, she was delighted to get one of her own! If you haven’t used one of these before, they are really cool!

Sweater
This was my parents’ other gift to Tally and it is such a cozy sweater (perfect for Tally who loves all things cozy). And it’s a very cute sweater!

101 Collective Nouns by Jennifer Cossins
Bart’s parents always give the grandkids a book for their birthday and my mother-in-law picked this one up for Tally in Australia last summer. She’s had the best time looking through it and quizzing us all on it!
