50+ chapter books that have Yoto cards (so you can follow along while you listen!)
One of my kids’ favorite things to do is to listen to an audiobook and follow along with a paper copy of the book.
They’ve especially loved doing this with their Yoto players where they can pop the Yoto card in and take it along wherever they want to go!
Here’s a big list of Yoto cards that have corresponding chapter books! (P.S. a Yoto card and a physical book together make a great gift!).

Chapter Books With Yoto Cards

The Magic School Bus by Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen // Paperback Book Here
Seatbelts everyone! There are 6 cards in this collection, and I love these fun stories filled with science. The books have so many details to look at too, so this is one where having a book and Yoto card combo really makes sense!

Hello, Universe by Erin Entrada Kelly // Paperback Book Here
This one won the Newbery and follows four children in a neighborhood who are all dealing with their own struggles and come together to solve a problem. It’s a sweet story that’s perfect for enjoying as a family.

The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate // Paperback Book Here
I pretty much don’t care for animals (I know) and I STILL think this is one of the best kids books ever, Newbery winner or not. When a book is this sweet, funny, and well-written, who cares if it’s narrated by a gorilla? Not me. (Full review here)

Holes by Louis Sachar // Paperback Book Here
Holes is one of my favorite Newbery winners and since my girls love the Wayside School books, I couldn’t wait to introduce them to this one. It was just as good as I remembered and when we finished, we had a special outdoor movie night with our giant screen to watch the film version.

Hobart by Anita Briggs // Paperback Book Here
Hobart may be a pig with big tap-dancing dreams, and with his quirky siblings along for the ride, their adventures are anything but ordinary (and way more fun than ending up as pork chops). Add in a full cast narration and a musical finale, and this audio feels like the perfect pick to keep anyone entertained.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney // Paperback Book Here
A beloved graphic novel by many a kid. It tells and illustrates all the struggles of being a kid. This one would be extra fun to listen along to the Yoto card because you definitely don’t want to miss the illustrations!

This collection includes all 7 titles in the series – it is full of excitement and adventure and has been beloved for generations.

Little Lunch by Danny Katz // Paperback Book Here
This laugh-out-loud series packs a whole lot of chaos into just a fifteen minute story. Think gross sandpit surprises, bad birthday pavlovas, and even a Disgusting Joke Competition. With eight books in the collection, these quick and funny reads are perfect for kids who love fast-paced adventures and plenty of silliness! (There is some potty humor in this one – so skip if you want to keep that at bay.)

Will Jayden and his five friends be able to save their basketball season? This book is a shoe in for any basketball lovers out there!

Captain Underpants by Dav Pilkey // Paperback Book Here
This one would be such a fun read to follow along with the Yoto card – especially since the illustrations add so much to the story. While I’ve never been the biggest fan of Captain Underpants myself (thanks to all the potty humor), there’s no denying this underwear-clad superhero is a favorite with kids everywhere!”

Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling // Paperback Book Here

This may not be your classic American Girl series (which I am pretty sure I had them all memorized when I was 7-10). But if you have younger readers, this Wellie Wishers series is wholesome, fun, imaginative and explores themes of how to be a good friend.

The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner // Paperback Book Here
For all of my children, The Boxcar Children books have been what really cemented their love of listening to audiobooks. These mysteries are wildly popular and have been for decades, for good reason. I like that the mysteries aren’t too scary and I really love that they showcase siblings that like each other, get along, and work together to solve problems. My only complaint is…Yoto doesn’t go beyond the fourth book. They want more!!

The World’s Worst Children by David Walliams // Paperback Book Here
David Walliams is often compared to Roald Dahl, so obviously it’s a must-read! This is one of those books that is MADE for listening to.

It’s a huge change for Astrid who has spent her whole life doing things with Nicole.

Dragon Tales by Kenneth Grahame // Hardcover Book Here
This card includes The Reluctant Dragon by Kenneth Grahame, along with three other dragon stories by Edith Nesbit. We particularly love The Reluctant Dragon, a sweet and funny little story about a boy who finds a gentle, poetry-loving dragon who just wants to live in peace. When the townspeople call in St. George to slay the beast, the boy has to come up with a clever plan to save his new friend.

The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo // Paperback Book Here
The Tale of Despereaux is a sweet and quirky story about a tiny mouse who falls in love with a princess and ends up on a big adventure. It’s got that classic fairy tale feel, but with a little extra heart and humor.

Junie B. Jones Collection by Barbara Park // Book Set Here
I am not a personal fan of Junie B. Jones and avoid having my children read or listen to them (the bad behavior! the snotty attitude! The name calling! The terrible grammar and spelling!) but if you are, there is this 4 card collection on Yoto.

Great list! Is there a way to get this in a printable PDF like some of your other posts? Thank you!
Any update to this list? I see a lot of classic books listed on the yoto site and would love to know if they pair with a book/specific version. This is what I’d love to give my kids to further their reading adventures!
This list is brand-new (just in the last month or two!) – the classics are mostly Yoto Originals which means there aren’t books that go along with them word-for-word.
Thanks! I want sure when everything was coming out from yoto. Newbie. Thanks so much for this list!!
