Book Deals for an Early Autumn Weekend

The MOST important book deal going on this weekend is the Audible 99 cent deal that just dropped! Take two seconds to click and see if it offers it to you – I shared it on Instagram and lots of people told me they’d gotten it, even if they’d had an Audible deal earlier this year!

And speaking of book deals, Kindles will almost certainly be on sale this coming week for Prime Day (and the Kids Kindles already are!) – if you’re in the market, here’s my Kindle Comparison post to help you decide which one is right for you or your child!

Now on to the book deals!

Christmas with the Queen by Hazel Gaynor & Heather Web
A Christmas book in October? You must think I am crazy! But while it is on sale, this is the perfect time to snag the December book for the 2025 Everyday Reading Book Club. I loved their book Last Christmas in Paris and I’m so thrilled about this Christmas historical fiction title. This story is set in 1952 where young Queen Elizabeth II finds herself as the new monarch and is preparing for her radio broadcast on Christmas Day as postwar Britain changes around her.

The New Menopause: Navigating Your Path Through Hormonal Change with Purpose, Power, and Facts by Mary Claire Haver MD
Now that I’m 40, I know menopause is inevitable, but suffering through it isn’t. This book is a smart, science-backed guide to tackling symptoms, lowering health risks, and navigating hormone therapy with confidence. Empowering, practical, and refreshingly real – it’s the toolkit every woman needs for midlife and beyond.

The PLAN: Manage Your Time Like a Lazy Genius by Kendra Adachi
This book is the ULTIMATE time management book! In her kind, gentle-humored style, Kendra shares an extremely practical guide on how to manage your time while living the life you truly want (not tied to crazy productivity). Whether you’re new to Kendra or are already a fan of her podcast or The Lazy Genius Way, this book is terrific.

rose code book

The Rose Code by Kate Quinn
Embarrassingly I haven’t yet gotten around to any books by Kate Quinn. This one about three women recruited to be codebreakers during WWII sounds intriguing!

Just Mercy

Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson
Just Mercy is a non-fiction account by lawyer Bryan Stevenson of one of his early cases trying to exonerate a man on Death Row, plus a look at the current state of the U.S. justice and prison systems. It’s no exaggeration to say that this book changed my life. I think it should be required reading for every person.

Title good inside

Good Inside: A Guide to Becoming the Parent You Want to Be by Becky Kennedy
I’ve read this one (you may follow her on Instagram!) and I loved it – so many good reminders and helpful principles for being the kind of parent I want to be.

What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty
Alice comes to on the floor of the gym, with a bunch of worried friends around her. They aren’t the only ones that are worried – Alice is expecting her first baby and she’s concerned that the fall might have hurt the baby (she also can’t figure out why she’s at the gym; she hates the gym). The surprise of being at the gym, though, takes a quick backseat to the shock Alice receives when she realizes that it’s not 1998 like she thought, but instead it’s 2008. She’s not pregnant – she has three children. And the happy, new-ish marriage to Nick that she remembers is now on the verge of divorce. It’s a lot to take in. (Full review here)

The Many Lives of Mama Love

The Many Lives of Mama Love by Lara Love Hardin
As soon as I saw the premise of this book, I was in! It’s about a suburban housewife who is funding her heroin use by stealing credit cards from her neighbors. Until she’s convicted of 32 felonies and finds herself in prison. Post prison? She becomes a ghostwriter! And the audio is read by the author herself.

Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson
I’d say that generally I’m not drawn to books with descriptions like “sweeping family saga”, but this one has such great reviews from readers that it has been on my TBR list since it came out!

the blonde identity

The Blonde Identity by Ally Carter
This was one of my picks for the 2024 Everyday Reading Summer Reading Guide and I FLEW through it! It’s funny, romantic and just dang fun. I have to say, I loved it on audiobook.

The Princess in Black and the Hungry Bunny Horde by Shannon Hale & Dean Hale, illustrated by LeUyen Pham
Most of the time, she’s Princess Magnolia, prim and proper. But when her Monster Alarm rings, she transforms into the Princess in Black and no monster will get the better of her! This is the 3rd book in the 11 book series. Plus, ALL books in the series (except for the newest one) are all on sale for $1.99!

You're not listening

You’re Not Listening: What You You’re Missing and Why It Matters by Kate Murphy
This was one of my favorite books I read in 2019!). I feel like this is one of those books basically everyone should read – I read it on a couple’s trip and talked Bart’s ear off about it the whole time. Since this is a Chirp audiobook, there is no membership or subscription required – just buy and listen!
