3 Book Deals You Won’t Want to Miss This Weekend
Stamped from the Beginning:The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America by Ibram X. Kendi – audiobook for FREE
This book is a massive bestseller AND won the National Book Award for non-fiction in 2016. Spotify currently is offering the audiobook in its entirety for free. Alternatively, you can get a copy for $4.99 from Libro.fm and you can choose a Black-owned bookstore as the store that benefits from all your Libro.fm transactions. (Jason Reynolds also worked with Ibram X. Kendi to create a young adult version of this book called Stamped which I listened to this past week and loved – you can sign up for a Libro.fm membership here and get it for free).
Just Mercy (YA version) by Bryan Stevenson – audiobook for $4.99
Just Mercy is a non-fiction account by lawyer Bryan Stevenson of one of his early cases trying to exonerate a man on Death Row, plus a look at the current state of the U.S. justice and prison systems. It’s no exaggeration to say that this book changed my life. I think it should be required reading for every person. Right now, the young adult audiobook version is on sale for $4.99 both on Chirp and on Libro.fm. (The original version is also on sale here, although it’s not as cheap). Both versions are read by Bryan Stevenson, the author.
This Book Is Anti-Racist by Tiffany Jewell, illustrated by Aurelia Durand – eBook for $2.99
If you want to raise anti-racist kids, consider this your handbook. It has 20 lessons to work through and for the entire month of June, the publisher has set the price for digital copies to $2.99.
