What I Carry in My Thread Bag When I Travel

For the last few years, whenever we’ve traveled, this little Thread bag is my travel bag of choice (my affiliate code is JANSSEN15).

It’s small and compact and easy to carry when we’re walking 10-12 miles a day!

Here’s what I keep in my travel purse as we’re exploring a new place on vacation.

What I Keep in My Travel Purse

  • My phone. I use a Loopy case so it’s a bit bigger of a case and it still fits inside the open back pocket, which I find the most convenient, or if I want it more secure, in the main pocket.
  • A cell phone charger. I love this small flat charger that doesn’t require an extra cord. Plus it has a keychain so you can clip it to the outside of your bag if you need more interior space for other things!
  • My sunglasses. I never leave the house without my sunglasses, so you can certainly imagine I’m NEVER traveling without them.
  • My wallet. I use a small cards only wallet. I keep inside the main zipper compartment inside one of the pockets, so it’s secure.
  • Lip balm. I mean, who is leaving home without this? This is my current favorite!
  • My Kindle. I don’t take my Kindle with me every day when we’re traveling – but if it’s a day with a lot of trains or subway riding, I’ll bring it along. My basic Kindle fits very neatly in this bag!
  • A tiny water bottle. I first bought this clear tiny water bottle that fit in my bag but then I upgraded to this insulated one which is WAY cuter and I just slip it through the strap of my bag on the outside. Perfect for filling up at cafes and restaurants or public fountains without having to lug a 40 ounce water bottle around all day (no thanks!).

I love that it keeps me hands-free when I travel but it’s close to my body so I don’t have to worry as much about pickpockets. Plus the bag itself is nice and light!

And if you have any questions about this Thread bag or what I take (or don’t take!) with me during the day as we travel, leave a comment and I’m happy to help!
