Raiding My Sister’s Closet: One Scarf, Three Outfits

I really love scarves and I have a fairly good little collection (when I did my great closet purge, not a single scarf got axed).
This one, though, is the only infinity scarf I own. I’ve worn it so much since I got it in December, that I’m contemplating turning some of my other scarves into infinity scarves (a single seam sewing project is one that even I can do).
I like scarves because they’re a super quick way to finish off any outfit.
For this round of Raiding My Sister’s Closet, we’re each sharing a few ways we use scarves.
#1: Add some color.
I love the denim on denim look, but a little bit of color is nice to break things up. (I particularly like this scarf with this outfit because it mirrors the blues but also has the orange too, for a tiny bit of contrast).
Scarf: Ash and Anchor // Top: Kohl’s
Jeans: Aeropostale // Shoes: DSW // Belt: Old Navy

#2: Add some pattern.
I own so many solid colored things, it’s a little embarrassing. A scarf is a super easy way to add a little pattern (this one is my other go-to patterned scarf).

Scarf: Ash and Anchor // Dress: Downeast Basics
Shoes: Ross // Bracelet: Claire’s

#3: Pattern Mixing.
Truly, I own so few patterned things that pattern mixing is a little challenging for me because my options are so limited. But a striped shirt and a patterned scarf? Done.

And. . .do the studs on these shoes mean they qualify as patterned too? If so, I’ll just be over here overachieving.

Scarf: Ash and Anchor // Sweater: Old Navy // Shirt: H&M
Jeans: Aeropostale // Shoes: Aeropostale // Belt: Aeropostale
Check out Merrick and Landen‘s scarf outfits too. It’ll probably be the highlight of your Tuesday:

  1. I've really gotten into scarves the past year or so. Definitely dress up any outfit and allow me to finally get away from wearing so many turtlenecks in the winter!

  2. I love all of these (especially the last one)! I left this post up on the computer while I went and got ready this morning, and my husband scrolled through and said, "Who is this girl? Every one of these outfits looks EXACTLY like something you would wear." So that makes me feel like I must be doing something right 😉

  3. I looooooove scarves, I wear one almost every day and have….an embarassing number of them in my closet. SorryNotSorry. I really love the first and last outfits here, something I could probably recreate out of my own closet without any purchases! Win!

  4. This is a great post, Janssen! I love seeing posts where an accessory is remixed a few different ways (or where a basic tee and jeans combo is accessorized in a few ways). Your scarf is really pretty, and I like all of your outfits. I'm not a huge pattern-mixer myself, but I do really like the last outfit!! 🙂

  5. I love every single one of your outfits here! I down own a single patterned scarf and I think that needs to change very soon 🙂
