An Audiobook Match Made in Heaven

This post is created in partnership with Audible and Crayola

Whenever parents ask about helping their kids get into audiobooks, one of my very best suggestions is to let them do something physical while they listen!

After all, I rarely just sit down on the couch to listen to an audiobook – I’m best able to listen when I’m folding laundry or going for a run or while in the car or working on a jigsaw puzzle.

Why would kids be any different?

And Audible and Crayola agree!

I was delighted to see that Crayola has created free downloadable activities and coloring pages to go along with a number of beloved Audible Originals!

And with winter break just around the corner, the timing couldn’t be better.

These are perfect for printing out and letting your kids do these activities that go along with the story they’re listening to!

My girls had listened to The Weirdies and were delighted to revisit this hilarious Audible Original with a related activity about triplets left behind at their manor when the whole staff and family leaves on a doomed cruise and now have to learn to fend for themselves.

You can see the whole collection of Audible Original kids stories with exclusive downloadable activities from Crayola right here (if you’re not an Audible member, you can use this link to get an exclusive free two month trial!).

There are downloadable activities for kids ages 3-12, ranging from coloring sheets to imagining the story through drawing. The collection features popular kids characters from Peppa Pig, Kidz Bop, and Are You Afraid of the Dark?

It’s the perfect way to keep your kids entertained and their imaginations working while school is out for the next few weeks.

And if you sit down and color or draw along with them?

Well, there’s nothing I like better than a shared audiobook experience as a family!

P.S. If you missed it, Audible recently came out with the option to create a Kids Profile so kids will only have access to the titles parents have shared for them.

Here’s how to set up a Kids profile on Audible (if you don’t have an Audible membership, you can sign up for one here!):

 – Open the Audible App

 – Click the Profile button in the bottom right corner

 – Scroll down and you’ll see the option to “Create A Kids Profile”

 – It’ll pop up an explanation of the Kids Profile and then you choose “Create a Kids Profile”

Once that’s done, you can start adding titles to your Kid’s Profile.

Go to the “Library” section of your Audible app and then find a title you want to add to the Audible Kids Profile and tap the three dots to the right of the title. A menu will pop up and you can select “Share with Kids Profile.”

You can add as many titles as you want to the Kids profile. When you enter the Kids profile, they won’t be able to exit back to your full Audible library without your password!

Happy listening!
