A Day in the Life – Fall 2025
I love doing these Day in the Life posts (I’ve been doing them since my oldest daughter was less than 2 year old!) and it is fun to see how much life changes as the years go by.
Here’s what a weekday looked like this month!

5:11 a.m. I wake up and wonder what time it is – it kind of feels like it might be time to get up. I roll over and turn my clock on and it’s 5:11. No way I’m missing out on more than an hour of sleep, so I go back to sleep.
6:30 a.m. My alarm goes off and I get up and quietly get dressed for a workout so I don’t wake Bart up. After I’ve brushed my teeth and my hair and put my shoes on, I go to my office and check my email, respond to Instagram messages and post today’s reel. One of the girls usually has Chinese tutoring at this time, but it’s canceled for today. They didn’t turn off the alarm, so both my little girls are up at the normal time and come up in their pjs. They grab their school bins and start doing their school work to get a jump on the day.
7:20 a.m. I head out for a short walk while I listen to an audiobook and when I get home, I pick a 20 minute upper body workout video and do that in our gym.
8:05 a.m. Our bedroom door is still closed, but when I quietly open it, I can hear Bart doing Duolingo. I head into the bathroom and Bart comes in a minute later. We both shower and get ready for the day, chatting about work, our kids, and the day’s schedule. When I’m done, I gather up all the library books that are due and load them into the car along with two baskets of things to donate after we all did our seasonal clothing rotation over the weekend.
8:50 a.m. I say goodbye to the girls, grab our HSA card from Bart (I cannot find mine!) and head to my dental appointment. It takes about 50 minutes and I mostly watch The Great British Baking Show on the ceiling TV while my teeth get cleaned. When it’s done, I run to the library and turn in all my books and pick up a huge stack of holds. Then I stop by the donation center and head home.
10:20 a.m. I arrive just as the neighbor kids show up for a ride to art. Tally is finishing her Savvy Reading class, so while we wait for her, I start my breakfast cooking (I usually eat much earlier than this but didn’t have time with my dental appointment, so I’m hungry!). Tally finishes Savvy and we all hop in the car and I drive everyone to art and drop them off, shooting off a quick text to my assistant asking if we can have a phone call to go over some work things and listening to my audiobook on the way home. When I get home, I add the rest of my breakfast ingredients to cook and hop on that call with my assistant. We chat and get everything nailed down and then I go back to the kitchen to get my breakfast finished up. Ani comes in to talk to me about her chemistry assignment. When she’s done, I sit down at my desk to eat and work on this post.
11:15 a.m. I knock a few things off my to-do list and then my girls get home from art and we dive right into history. After history, we do family reading and then have lunch as a family. Usually, the two younger girls would go to science but it was canceled this week so a friend comes over just as we’re wrapping up family reading and she eats lunch with us and then stays to play games with the girls.
1:00 p.m. Bart and Ani head out to the store to get her some new winter pants. I go back to my office to work.
2:15 p.m. Bart and Ani get home, three pairs of jeans successfully acquired, and Ani heads to my mother-in-law’s for math. Bart and I chat for a few minutes before I go film some sponsored stories and a reel. I film my book club stories and then film another reel (throughout this time, kids keep popping in to my house to play with my kids – I think I answered the door four different times!). Bart and Ella head out for pickleball team practice.
3:15 p.m. I film another reel and edit it until the moment I need to get on a phone call. I was thinking this would be a 15 minute call, maybe 30 minutes but we go more than 45!
4:30 p.m. I post this week’s book giveaway and film and edit another reel. Tally comes home from a church activity and shows me the mini pizza she made. I catch up on this post and now it’s 5:30! Usually I start making dinner at 5:00 but there was just so much to do today. I take 5 minutes to plan for tomorrow, post tonight’s reel and then grab my headphones and go start working on dinner while I listen to my audiobook.
5:40 p.m. I set the table and unload the dishwasher (usually I’d have the girls do this, but with all these friends over, I cut them a break). I get dinner going and it turns out my timing works out fine because Bart and Ella don’t get home until 6:30. We sit down for dinner and chat about our day and then have scripture study over cookies that Ani made earlier for math at Bart’s mom’s house. Bart does the dishes and the girls collect the garbage and recycling to put out for pick up.
7:15 p.m. I open some Halloween costume packages that have arrived and everyone tries things on. I send the girls down to get ready for bed so we can finish watching Little Women (the 1994 version, obviously) in preparation for our Boston trip.
7:45 p.m. We all snuggle up on the couch with blankets and Ella puts her laundry in the dryer and we watch the last 45 minutes or so. Do I cry? 100%
8:30 p.m. With the movie done, we transition right into read-aloud time. Ani french braids my hair while I read aloud (we’re reading Code Name Kingfisher right now) and nobody wants to be done when the clock hits 9. Bart joins us for family prayer and we tuck the girls in and clean up a bit.
9:30 p.m. Bart and I finish getting ready for bed and Ella joins us in our room to watch an episode of Castle. We finish a little earlier than normal (10:13) and turn off the light and crank our sound machine up. Bart and I say a prayer together and go to sleep.
