6 Books for an August Weekend

I feel like I’m taking a deep breath this weekend after the first full week of school and our house feeling a little more put together and life going back to somewhat normal.

And there are SO MANY good book deals this weekend!

The Eyre Affairs by Jasper Fforde – ebook
This was one of the first books I read when I started getting back into for-fun reading at the end of my college career, and it was SO FUN. Thursday Next is a Special Operative in literary detection with plenty of time travel under her belt and she’s called into action when someone starts kidnapping famous characters from works of literature. And when it’s Jane Eyre who gets nabbed? Well, this is a mystery to be solved quickly.

What the Wind Knows by Amy Harmon – ebook
This title also came up SO MANY TIMES when I asked about good time traveling book recommendations

The Princess Academy by Shannon Hale – audiobook
I read this book on paper, then Bart and I listened to it when we moved to Boston and had days of driving a U-Haul together, and the girls and I just listened to it in the car this past fall. Don’t let the title fool you – this book isn’t just for girls. This book is great for all ages, boys and girls alike – with as much adventure and intrigue as you could hope for. Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson – audiobook
This was the July book for the Everyday Reading Book Club! It’s a fantasy YA novel which isn’t my usual genre, but it’s fun for me to use book club as a way to branch out a little more than I might normally! (Full Review here)

Out of the Easy by Ruta Septys – audiobook
This young adult historical fiction title is set in New Orleans and I LOVED it when I read it years ago.

The Year I Flew Away by Marie Arnold – audiobook
This is one of the books my children’s literature book club is reading next month, so I was delighted to see it on super sale!
