A Spring Weekend of Book Deals for April

I’m up to my eyeballs in final prep for the 2025 Summer Reading Guide which comes out in early May and I cannot WAIT!

While my team and I put the final touches on it,  here are some great book deals going on this weekend!

The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware
Ruth Ware was SUCH a fun addition to my reading life this past year. I’d heard about her for years but never picked up one of her books until last summer and then I blazed through four or five of her books this year. This one is one of her most well-known!

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid
I have read every book she’s written (this one is my favorite) so I didn’t want to skip this one and it didn’t disappoint! Four famous siblings throw a huge party every summer in Malibu. But this year? The mansion burns to the ground during the party. I listened to the audio version and it was so well done. I’m still thinking about it more than six months later – she is such a master at a large cast of characters. (Full review here)

The History of the Ancient World: From the Earliest Accounts to the Fall of Rome Illustrated Edition by Susan Wise Bauer
We’ve been doing Story of the World all together for the girls’ homeschool history curriculum this year, but since they are more geared for elementary schoolers. Ella has been using this one for history. I love that they follow the same timeline as the younger girls’ set. The whole set of high school books is here, but for under $3, this one from the set is a fantastic deal!

Holes by Louis Sachar

Holes by Louis Sachar
Holes is one of my favorite Newbery winners and since my girls love the Wayside School books, I couldn’t wait to introduce them to this one. It was just as good as I remembered and when we finished, we had a special outdoor movie night with our giant screen to watch the film version.

The Chronicles of Narnia Complete Audio Collection by C. S. Lewis
During World War II, four siblings are sent to the countryside of London where they are to be kept safe from the war. One of the children finds a wardrobe that has the ability to transport them to a completely different world called Narnia. This series is full of excitement and adventure and has been beloved for generations. This collection is well worth it with more than 33 hours of run time! (Plus, it’s a Libro.fm book, so you can make your own Yoto card with it!)

Alone

Alone by Megan E. Freeman
This middle grade survival novel written in verse sounds riveting! Twelve-year-old Maddie wakes up to a nightmare: her town has been mysteriously evacuated, leaving her completely alone. With no power, internet, or help, Maddie must rely on her ingenuity, a loyal Rottweiler named George, and her love of books to survive. Facing natural disasters, looters, and crushing loneliness, Maddie’s determination is tested as she fights to endure the most challenging experience of her life. (Plus, it’s a Libro.fm book, so you can make your own Yoto card with it!)

We should all be millionaires

We Should All Be Millionaires by Rachel Rodgers
You know I can’t resist a money book and this one was so good and quite different than a lot of the money books I’ve read in the past. It got me so fired up! It’s ultra-readable and really inspired me as a business owner. It’s also full of practical tips, not just high level information and I kind of thing every woman should read it.

the star that always stays book

The Star That Always Stays by Anna Rose Johnson
I read this to my girls last year and I am so happy to see it on sale! It follows Norvia who loves her Ojibwe heritage but when her family moves to the city in 1914, her mother wants her to pretend she’s not Native, including to her new stepfather and stepbrother. And as if that isn’t enough, a world on the verge of world war gives her plenty of other things to worry about. (This one is a Libro.FM deal so you can use it to make a Yoto card!)

mother daughter murder night

Mother-Daughter Murder Night by Nina Simon
This one sounds really fun, it is described as “Gilmore Girls, but with murder” as a grandmother, mother, and daughter trio try to solve the murder next door.
