7 Holiday Season Book Deals
I can’t believe how close we are to Christmas!
My girls get out of school in a few days, we have family in town visiting and most of the presents are wrapped and ready for the big day!
And, of course, I’ve got a big stack of books to read! Here are some great options on super sale this weekend:
7 Holiday Season Book Deals
The Labors of Hercules Beal by Gary D. Schmidt – audiobook
If you’ve been around for any length of time, you know how deeply obsessed I am his book The Wednesday Wars. This is another wonderful book by Gary D. Schmidt that is worth the read (it’s set in the same world as Wednesday Wars, although decades apart, so you’ll recognize a character or two!)
Endurance: Shackleton’s Incredible Voyage by Alfred Lansing – audiobook
If you need some great non-fiction, this story is mind-boggling (and extra fun since the Endurance -the ship – was just recently found more than a hundred years after it sank). This is one of those stories where truth is stranger than fiction and it’s perfect for a couples read!
Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner – audiobook
To be honest, I couldn’t finish this one because the details about her mom dying of cancer were too vivid for me after having watched my own brother lose his life to cancer when I was a teenager. But most people LOVE this book and if you’ve been wanting to read it, it’s a great deal.
Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach – audiobook
I can’t say reading a book about cadavers would by my typical choice, but this one sounds so intriguing and so many people have recommended it to me. It’s a funny and fascinating story all about what happens to our bodies postmortem throughout history.
My Weird School Special: Deck the Halls, We’re Off the Walls! by Dan Gutman – audiobook
This is a silly series reminds me of the Wayside School series. It is geared more for beginning readers, but all the adults at Ella Mentry School are just a little bit weird…maybe REALLY weird! And now is the perfect time to snag the holiday book with winter break right around the corner! My six year old LOVES this series.
The Enchanted Hour: The Miraculous Power of Reading Aloud in the Age of Distraction by Meghan Cox Gurdon – audiobook
This feels like a more academic version of The Read-Aloud Family, with so much research behind why it matters so much to read to your children. I am IN LOVE with this book and can’t stop recommending it.
