Book Deals for a Mid July Weekend
It feels like my reading life has roared back to life in the last week and I’m loving it! Nothing screams summer like getting lost in a good book.
Here are the book deals you won’t want to miss this weekend!

Beg, Borrow, or Steal by Sarah Adams – ebook $1.99
This one sucked me in and is by far my FAVORITE book of hers! It’s your classic rivals to lovers trope – but with some depth to it. I absolutely loved it! Although this is book #3 of the When in Rome series, all the books standalone with a few crossover characters. (I also have a 30 second book review of it here)

The Watsons Go to Birmingham by Christopher Paul Curtis – ebook $1.99
When the Watson family go to visit Grandma in Birmingham, Alabama in the summer of 1963, the heart of the Civil Rights Movement, their world is turned upside down. This Newbery winner is a classic and I can’t wait to read it with the girls – I read it years ago and I’m looking forward to revisiting it!

The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street by Karina Yan Glaser – ebook $2.99
This fun story follows five siblings who are about to lost their beloved brownstone home in Harlem, thanks to a cantankerous (and mysterious) landlord who refuses to budge. If you’re looking for a book with similar vibes to The Penderwicks, this is an unbeatable option.

Thank You For Listening by Julia Whelan – ebook $2.99 or $3.99 for the audiobook
I LOVE Julia Whelan’s audiobook narration (she narrates Book Lovers!) and her book that she wrote (and narrated!) was an instant best seller. This book is especially fun because it’s all about the world of audiobook narrating. The main character, Sewanee, used to be an actress, but now she has moved into audiobook narration. She got her start in romance novels which she’s decided to leave that behind her, but she gets roped into doing one last romance project. This final project ends up being with the most popular male audiobook narrator of the romance genre, Brock McKnight. You will definitely want to listen to this one on audio! Heads up for one brief open door scene.

The Astral Library by Kate Quinn – ebook $2.99
I have been on a Kate Quinn kick since I finally read The Briar Code and now I want to read everything she has written. This one is a new release (she talked about it when she and I did an Instagram Live!) where a library allows people to actually live within the worlds that are contained by books!

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot – ebook $1.99
This book was so interesting! Henrietta Lacks was a poor Black woman who lost a battle with cancer. During her treatments, doctors took samples of her tumors and discovered her cells were “immortal”. Scientist call these cells HeLa cells and they changed the future of medicine and science. Covering three intertwined stories: the science behind HeLa, the legal issues around consent and ownership of cells, and the story of the Lacks family, this book truly is fascinating.

Summer Romance by Annabel Monaghan – audiobook $4.99
What’s summer reading without a little romance? I loved her book Nora Goes Off Script, and I loved this one even more! It follows Ali who is a professional organizer and a personal mess as she becomes a new single mom. Will a summer romance make her life more or less messy?

The Rose Code by Kate Quinn – audiobook $4.99
As mentioned above, I finally read my first Kate Quinn book (The Briar Club) for Everyday Reading Book Club and was so enthralled that I knew I needed to read another one! I immediately downloaded The Rose Code, about three women recruited to be codebreakers during WWII. I was all in on this one. My summer reading list is basically just her whole backlist.
