5 Book Deals for the End of October
Halloween is just a week a way – I can hardly believe it!
(I’m excited for our annual Halloween dinner – details here – and getting together with Bart’s family for some Halloween treats and games).
And, of course, there are some great book deals going on this weekend. Here are five you won’t want to miss!
5 Great Weekend Book Deals
Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson, illustrated by Axel Scheffler
If you love this book, you aren’t alone – this week, it was the #2 best-selling book on Amazon (only the new John Grisham novel beat it out). Not bad for a book that’s nearly two decades old! And when the board book is on sale for less than a $4, well, this is a great time to add it to your personal collection.
Cooking Class: 57 Fun Recipes Kids Will Love to Make (and Eat!)
I’m working on a post about kids cookbooks and this is one I bought this one years ago to use for weekly cooking classes when we homeschooled and it’s been a staple in our kitchen ever since. And I was glad to see that so many other families loved it too – when I asked for recommendations on Instagram, this author came up SO many times. And when it’s on sale for more than 50% off? Grab it now! (Baking Class, the companion cookbook, is also on the same sale!)
A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
This retelling of Beauty and the Beast is so fantastic – you probably already know that because I’ve been talking about it non-stop all year. Rhen is the heir to Emberfall and doomed to repeat the same autumn every year until he can get a girl to fall in love with him. This is made extra tricky because at the end of each fall, he turns into a terrifying monster that goes on murderous rampages. And when Harper is snatched from her life in modern-day D.C. and brought to Emberfall as the last chance to save Rhen and his kingdom? Good luck to them both.
The Birchbark House by Louise Erdrich
I read this story of a seven year old Native girl, Omakayas who lives on an island in Lake Superior in the 1840s to my girls over the summer and we finished the last few chapters on audio during a road trip. The audiobook is on sale through LibroFM – if you’re not familiar with LibroFM, I have a whole post here about how it works, plus you can get a free audiobook here! Or if you have an Audible subscription, it’s included free as part of Audible Plus!
The Tail of Emily Windsnap by Liz Kessler
My girls are SUPER into this series. Ella has read them all multiple times and my younger girls love listening to the audio version of this girl who discovers that she is half mermaid.
