Weekend Book Deals for the Middle of August

The book deals are on fire this weekend!

So many good options whether you want to make Yoto Cards with LibroFM audiobooks or grab a Kindle read!

Attachments by Rainbow Rowell – ebook – $1.99
I am SUCH a fan of this book about a computer security guy who starts reading the emails between two women who work at the newspaper after their emails get flagged by the filtering software and then falls in love with one of them despite the fact that she has no idea he even exists. Inkheart by Cornelia Funke – ebook – $1.99
I read this book years ago after my younger brother had mentioned it to me while on vacation. For some reason, I expected it to be about dragons (hint: it’s not), but even without dragons this book is quite good. Meggie lives with her father, Mo, who is a book binder by trade and particularly skilled at bringing ancient and tattered books back to their former glory. After receiving a strange visitor and a whispered conversation, Mo and Meggie set out on an adventure. The second half of this book was especially gripping! (Full review here)

Drowning: The Rescue of Flight 1421 by T. J. Newman – ebook – $3.99
This twisty thriller sound so intense! Shortly after taking off from Hawaii, Flight 1421 must make an emergency landing into the ocean. As survivors begin evacuating, the danger outside begins to grow and the remaining passengers onboard must close the doors and wait to be rescued. But as the plane begins to sink will the rescue crew be able to save them in time…especially as the plane is teetering on the edge of a sea cliff?

The Adventures Of Nanny Piggins: Book 1 by R.A. Spratt – audiobook – $3.30
Ella has LONG loved Nanny Piggins and begged me to read it aloud to everyone. These books are just so fun and wacky – we blew through it so fast! Now we own all the audiobooks and they’re on constant repeat at our house. The rest of the series is also on sale at Libro.FM too! If you buy ANY audiobook this weekend, make it this one. (And because this one is a Libro.FM deal, you can use it to make a Yoto card!)

Faking Christmas by Cindy Steel – audiobook – $2.99
I blew through this one in a day and it’s a total delight. Olive and Miles are both high school English teachers and she cannot stand him – he’s stolen her title as most popular teacher and makes her work life nearly unbearable. But then, of course, the need for a fake boyfriend comes up and she uses his name to get her mom and sister to back off of setting her up with her ex-boyfriend during the holidays. Which would be fine until the REAL Miles shows up for the holiday celebrations. This one doesn’t go past kissing, so if that’s your speed, this book is perfect (and A+ for witty banter and lots of chemistry!).

The Great Pet Heist by Emily Ecton – audiobook – $4.99
When their elderly owner goes to the hospital, an unlikely group of pets plan a robbery to support themselves, and avoid being sent to the pound. (This one is a Libro.fm title, which means you can make it into a Yoto card!)

American as Paneer Pie by Supriya Kelkar – $0.99
Lekha is a quiet Indian American teen who feels torn between two worlds. She has her Indian traditions at home and with her Indian friends in Detroit, but she also has a desire to fit in with her classmates at school, and the girls from her swim team. Will Lekha be able to balance the two?

Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World by Cal Newport – audiobook – $4.99
Okay, I KNOW I need to re-read this book every year. In this age of so much distraction, I love his hands-on ideas for how to really focus and get the things that matter to you done. If you feel pulled in all directions by your phone or social media and like you aren’t able to focus on the projects and work that matters to you (whether that’s a job, writing a novel, your family, or something else entirely), this non-fiction book is so good.
