Book Deals for the Weekend of August 15th

I am SO happy that the weekend is here!

This is our last weekend before school starts and I’m soaking it up (and just downloaded this fall romance from Kindle Unlimited!).

Here are some books deals you won’t want to miss!

these is my words

These is My Words by Nancy Turner – ebook – $2.99
I read this book YEARS ago after my mom raved about it and sent me a copy. She wasn’t wrong – this historical romance is written in diary form (a format I generally don’t care for but works wonderfully here) and follows Sarah Prine and her family in the Arizona Territories where pretty much every bad thing you can imagine happens until they join up with a wagon train. The leader of the wagon train is Captain Elliot and Sarah by turns admires him and despises him. Of course she does. I LOVED this book. (Full review here)

escape from Mr. Lemoncello's library

Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library by Chris Grabenstein – ebook – $4.99
This is one of those middle grade novels that took the world by storm – it has been SO popular and for good reason. Mr. Lemoncello is a world-famous game maker AND he’s designed the new city library. And on opening night, there will be a lock-in for kids where they have to solve the puzzles to find the hidden escape route. (You can see why it spent 100 weeks on the NYT Bestseller List). Red Rising

Red Rising by Pierce Brown – ebook – $1.99
Since this one made it to The 15+ Favorite Books of 2025 from the Everyday Reading Community, it must be good! Darrow is a simple miner on Mars, working as hard as possible to prepare Mars for the rest of civilization. Despite his efforts, he soon realizes he has been betrayed by society. Mars is already thriving with cities, lush greenery and much more – making him realize that he and his people (the Reds) are nothing more than slaves for the rest of mankind. Darrow sacrifices everything to infiltrate the ruling classes school in his design to destroy the society from within.

Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney – audiobook – $3.50
I’ve been meaning to read this one for ages! It follows Frances, a coolheaded college student in Dublin, and her best friend Bobbi as they get pulled into orbit of an older, sophisticated couple. This one sounds intriguing!

How to Plot a Payback by Melissa Ferguson – audiobook – $3.99
This is another one by Melissa Ferguson that I read last spring. She writes clean romance with lots of mishaps and funny dialogue – I don’t think her writing is as hilarious as Sophie Kinsella but they’re definitely fun romance reads. This one is my favorite of hers so far!

miss daisy and crazy audiobook

Miss Daisy is Crazy (My Weird School #1) by Dan Gutman – audiobook – $2.99
My youngest daughter loves these books right now! A bunch of them are on sale too. This is a silly series reminds me of the Wayside School series. It is geared more for beginning readers, but all the adults at Ella Mentry School are just a little bit weird…maybe REALLY weird! (And, it’s a Libro.fm book, so you can make your own Yoto card with it!)

The One with the Kiss Cam

The One With the Kiss Cam by Cindy Steel – audiobook – $3.99
This book was pure delight! Nora is on a disastrous first date at an NBA game. But when her date gets up to get concessions, the kiss cam hovers over her and the stranger sitting next to her…let’s just say it might just be love at first kiss! This one is clean and funny with great banter and led me down the rabbit hole of other Cindy Steel books!

Cam Jansen and the Green School Mystery (Book #28) by David A. Adler – audiobook – $2.99
Cam Jansen is an amazing detective, and together with her friend Eric, she solves every mystery that comes her way. Did I mention she has a photographic memory? (This one is a Libro.fm book, so you can make your own Yoto card with it!)
