Book Deals for the Beginning of February
Oh my word, the book deals are just INCREDIBLE this week.
Usually, I stick to about four and this week, I had to rein myself in at seven. I love weeks like this!

Dear Martin by Nic Stone
I LOVED Nic Stone’s book Jackpot (it’s on the 2020 Summer Reading Guide!) but this is her best known title and I’ve been meaning to read it forever. This is a Chirp deal, and if Chirp is new to you, I have a whole post about it here! (Plus, if you’ve never used Chirp before, use the code EVERYDAYREADING30 for 30% off your first order!)
Pieces and Players by Blue Balliett
If you have a mystery lover, Blue Balliett’s middle grade books are for you! In this one, thirteen works of art have been stolen from a museum and a school teacher and her students are determined to track them down. (Again, if you’ve never used Chirp before, use the code EVERYDAYREADING30 for 30% off your first order!)
Cranford by Elizabeth Gaskell
I loved the Cranford mini series but haven’t read the book yet! For $2, this is a great time to pick it up this charming set of stories about a small town and the goings on of the local residents.

This is a fantastic non-fiction story of two international pen pals that start as a school project and become life long friends. I included this one on the 2018 Summer Reading Guide.

This was a GREAT book about a little girl, Minli, who sets out on a quest to find the Old Man on the Moon so she can find a fortune for her poor family. It was especially fun for my girls who are in a Mandarin Chinese immersion program at school. It’s full of little side stories that weave wonderfully into the main plot and gorgeous illustrations. Highly recommend.

I read this book and loved it, but couldn’t quite figure out what to say about it. It’s quirky, to be sure, but fun and extremely readable. This book was universally a winner in the mock Newberys around the country and ultimately won the gold sticker.
The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
This bestseller was one of the first books I read after I finished my undergrad degree and started reading in earnest again. It definitely has that Gothic feel to it and so many unexpected twists. Vera Winter is a famous novelist and has never told the real story about her life until her death is approaching and she asks a young woman she doesn’t know to be the one to write her real biography.
