5 Favorite Business Books
Bart has been interested in being an entrepreneur since I first met him and I could have hardly imagined back then that starting and running our own businesses would become such a core part of our lives.
Any time I mention business or entrepreneurship, I get requests for the best business books and finally, after literal years of this question, I asked Bart what his five top business books would be for someone who was interested in thinking about starting their own business.
And he delivered! (He’s read so so many business books – his Audible library is about 70% business books and 30% fantasy novels).
Here are his favorite picks:
the best business books
The E-Myth Revisited by Michael E. Gerber
This is a fantastic read for any small business owner, or soon-to-be small business owner. Not only does this one include advice and strategies for success, but it also dispels common myths. Gerber walks you through the life journey of a business from the starting stages, all the way to maturity, and even includes lessons and tips about franchising.
The Start-Up J Curve by Howard Love
Any new business venture follows a predictable pattern, known as the J Curve, which can be broken down into six stages. This book gives practical tools and activities to get through and maximize each stage of any business venture. Any book that can help you anticipate potential challenges and offers advice on how to succeed, is a winner in my book!
This is another book about startup businesses, but instead of focusing on the product/service, it’s all about the customer. Most startups fail because they are offering something that nobody wants, but in Ries’ book he shares advice on how to receive continuous feedback from customers, so you can make adjustments, which then means business success!
You could say this one is right up my alley because Content Inc. is all about content marketing. It’s all about how to be successful by creating valuable content, building a loyal audience, and then making a product. This book literally walks you through the entire process, plus it is full of how-tos, applicable examples, and extensive information about various platforms like TikTok, SnapChat, and Instagram.
This guide shares practical advice and inspiring stories about how to plan, launch, and refine a profitable side business in less than a month. Plus, it will give you the confidence to start that entrepreneurial venture with limited revenue and without quitting a full-time job.
