A Weekend of Book Deals for the Start of May
Happy Saturday!
This was such a fun week with the release of the Summer Reading Chart with Rad & Happy! (If you haven’t grabbed a free copy, it’s right here!)
And there are some GREAT book deals going on (plus these two audiobooks are still free – I don’t know how long this price will last so now is the moment to snag them for zero dollars!).
Meet Me in the Margins by Melissa Ferguson
This is such a cute fun romance! An editor at Savannah’s dream publishing company is asking for the manuscript of a romance novel she has been secretly writing behind the scenes, while working at a different publishing company. She hides her manuscript in a hidden room, but later discovers someone has found it and started jotting very critical edits in the margins. This mystery editor is not only helping make her manuscript better, but could she be falling for him too?
This Is Going to Hurt: Secret Diaries of a Young Doctor by Adam Kay
I haven’t read this one yet, but the premise sounds fantastic. It’s the brutally honest, hilariously horrifying diary of life as an overworked junior doctor in his first year. You’ll laugh, cry, and maybe gag a little as he pulls back the curtain on a career that demands everything…and gives very little in return.
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
This was one I meant to read for years and didn’t get around to until it was the only audiobook I had when I was doing hours and hours of driving every week down to my elementary school libraries in Boston. And I completely got the hype. (Full review here).
Never Split the Difference: Negotiating As If Your Life Depended On It by Chris Voss & Tahl Raz
I feel like I should have taken notes so I could refer back to the main points in this book, both for my business and my parenting.
Tap Code by Carlyle S. Harris and Sara W. Berry
If you haven’t read The Women by Kristin Hannah yet…well it graced my top books of 2024 as well as the Everyday Reading Community’s top books of 2024. And if you have read it and loved it, this nonfiction memoir is a great companion book about underground operations during the Vietnam War.
The Terrible Two by Mac Barnett and Jory John
Ella and I listened to it together several years ago (all of my kids went on and listened to the rest of them one million times) and it’s hilarious about two boys trying to out-prank each other. Now, all of my girls can recite pretty much the entire book from memory because they’ve listened to it so many times.
Kid Authors by David Stabler
Ella picked up a copy of Kid Presidents awhile back and really enjoyed it. I was delighted to see Kid Authors is available for under $3!
The One and Only Ruby by Katherine Applegate
Her Newberry winning title, The One and Only Ivan, (which is also on sale for just $1.99 ) is absolutely phenomenal! This is the third book in the series and just as good. (This one is a Libro.fm title, which means you can make it into a Yoto card!).
That Fine Line by Cindy Steel
I read her book Faking Christmas last Christmas and was delighted by how perfect of a fluffy romance it was. In this one, Kelsey is engaged to get married and her high school enemy, who is always playing practical jokes on her, is hired by her father to help on their farm. Will her wedding go on without a hitch, especially with a meddling prankster? This is a closed-door romance, so if you like something clean but full of witty banter, this will fit the bill.
A Sea of Unspoken Things by Adrienne Young
I absolutely LOVED her book The Unmaking of June Farrow (we read it in January for Everyday Reading Book Club). I’d love to read another one of her books and this one about a young women returning home after her twin brother’s suspicious death and sensing he’s guiding her to uncover the truth, was just released. Sounds intriguing!
