A Weekend of Book Deals for the Start of September
Happy September!
I can hardly believe Labor Day is behind us and we’re getting into fall now!
This is one of my favorite seasons to cozy up with a blanket and a good book or pull out a puzzle and listen to an audiobook.
Here are some of my favorite book deals going on this weekend:

Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley
This YA thriller has won so many awards and nominations. Daunis doesn’t fit in in her hometown or the nearby Ojibwe tribe. And when a shocking murder happens right before her eyes, she is intertwined in a criminal investigation. Will she be able to use her strengths to protect her community?

The Family Dynamic: A Journey into the Mystery of Sibling Success by Susan Dominus
I just got a copy of this one and it’s definitely on my list to read this fall. Ever wonder how one family ends up raising an Olympic athlete, an award-winning novelist, and a Silicon Valley powerhouse? This book digs into the lives of six families to uncover what drives that kind of success – parenting, sibling dynamics, pure luck, or a mix of it all. It’s part family drama, part nature-vs-nurture deep dive and I can’t wait to discuss it with Bart!

Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli
Stargirl arrives at Micah High and enchants everyone with her strange and wonderful personality, particularly the narrator, Leo. But when she begins cheering for both the home team and the opposing team, the school turns on her. And Leo, desperately in love with her, pressures her to conform. I read this one during my masters in library science and absolutely loved it. (Full review here)

Slow Dance by Rainbow Rowell
This was one of my favorite reads of 2024! I REALLY love Rainbow Rowell and this one absolutely worked for me. Her books generally aren’t fast paced but they are so richly told with great character development and swoony romance and this one was one where I had to keep stopping to just soak it all in. I blew through the audiobook in a day or two and I wish it had been twice as long! (The ebook is also on sale for $1.99 if you would rather read it.)

Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
Bart and I both loved this YA series that is about two decades old, (in fact, Tally’s blog name is because of this book – Bart was gunning to name her that for real, but I had to draw the line somewhere).

First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston
This is one of my page-turner picks for the 2024 Summer Reading Guide, and it will be one you won’t want to put down! Evie Porter’s life looks pretty perfect and now her perfect boyfriend has just asked her to move in with him to his perfect house. The only catch is . . . Evie Porter doesn’t really exist. Working under the alias of Evie Porter, Lucca Marino knows that her ‘boyfriend’ Ryan is the mark and she’s just waiting to find out what the actual job is. While she is waiting to receive more instructions, she is introduced to Ryan’s close friend’s girlfriend, Lucca Marino. If it sounds trippy, it’s because it is. This book is full of twists and turns!

A World Without Heroes (Beyonders Book 1) by Brandon Mull
This was a series that I included on my 100+ Good Books for Teen Boys post…and Brandon Mull just writes really great series! Jason, along with his friend and sidekick, Rachel, must embark on an epic quest to bring down Maldor the evil ruler. Will the cost be worth it to save the new world they have stumbled upon?Â
