7 Book Deals for the Beginning of Fall
This weekend, Bart and I are in Chicago for a little anniversary getaway (my parents just moved near us this week, so we’re taking advantage of having them close by to easily watch our kids!).
We’ve both been to Chicago many times so we don’t feel the pressure to see and do ALL the things and are mostly taking it pretty easy!
I brought along several books to read (plus this puzzle – doing a puzzle on vacation is one of my favorite things), and I’m looking forward to some great meals, sleeping in, and wandering the city.
Here are some of the book deals I’m most excited about this weekend!
Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Within 10 minutes of turning on the audiobook, I was ALL IN and basically started running at night just so I could listen to another 30 minutes. It’s the story of a rock music band in the seventies, and it’s hard to remember that it’s a novel, not non-fiction. It feels THAT real. It’s told through interviews with Daisy and Billy and other members of the band, family members and friends. It could be wildly confusing, but somehow it just WORKS. And the audio version is incredible!
Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty
I’ve been a Liane Moriarty fan since I first read What Alice Forgot back in 2011. I’ve also read The Hypnotist’s Love Story, The Husband’s Secret, Big Little Lies and of course Truly Madly Guilty. I read the whole thing in about two days! (Full review here)
Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman
I could not put this book down – it’s a totally different look at time management than I’ve EVER read before. If you’re tired of feeling rushed or like life is just a race toward more and more productivity, this book is for you! It’s a pretty dense book, but I enjoyed reading it a few pages at a time over a couple of months.
Mouse Scouts by Sarah Dillard
These little mice girls belong to the Mouse Scouts and work hard to earn different badges. This is such a charming chapter book series. (Plus, it’s a Libro.fm book, so you can make your own Yoto card with it!)
Bubbly Beautiful Kitty-Corn by Shannon Hale & Leuyen Pham – audiobook
This is the fourth and newest installment of the Kitty-Corn series about a cute little kitten and her friend unicorn. In this one, Kitty will do whatever it takes to make Unicorn’s dream come true…the dream to become a mermaid! (Plus, it’s a Libro.fm book, so you can make your own Yoto card with it!)
Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister
This thriller/mystery has been on tons of bestseller and book club lists. This is a time loop book where Jen witnesses her teenage son murder someone outside of their home. But when she wakes up the next morning, it is the day prior. She continues to go back in time days before the murder…will she be able to stop this murder before it happens?
Little Women & Little Men by Louisa May Alcott
I have to say this is an absolute steal for almost 30 hours of run time…AND with two fantastic classics by Louisa May Alcott!?
