June Weekend Book Deals
We’ve pretty much lived at the pool this week between our water park passes, the local rec center’s indoor and outdoor pools, several of the girls doing swim team and Tally doing swim lessons this week.
There are lots of great books on sale this weekend – snag a few for upcoming road trips or vacations or just reading at home in bed!

Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder – audiobook
I grew up on these books (I lived in Wisconsin until I was almost 7 and we went to the rebuilt Little House in the Big Woods which I still remember very clearly) and waited my whole life to have children of my own to read them to. When Ella was in kindergarten, we read the first four books together and my girls have listened to the audio dozens of times since then.
Big Nate: In a Class by Himself by Lincoln Peirce – audiobook
I know Big Nate isn’t for everyone, but if it’s a hit at your house, this is the moment to grab the audiobook for a song!
Hooray for Anna Hibiscus by Atinuke – audiobook
Anna Hibiscus lives in Africa with both her immediate and extended family, including twin baby brothers and there are plenty of adventures to be had in this sweet chapter book series.
Hamster Princess: Of Mice and Magic by Ursula Vernon – audiobook
This fractured fairy tale series is one of Ella’s favorites and she’s read and re-read them, reading aloud her favorite lines to me and . . . I have to admit, they are truly laugh-out-loud funny. Don’t let the title fool you – they’re great for boys and girls who love adventure and humor.
DJ Funkyfoot: Butler for Hire! by Tom Angleberger & Heather Fox – audiobook
If you have a child who loves Origami Yoda, this is a new series by the same author – there are three books in the series so far (and all of them are on sale!).
A Place to Land: Martin Luther King Jr. and the Speech That Inspired a Nation by Barry Wittenstein – audiobook
This one focuses on how Dr. King’s famous speech came about and how it almost never was. It’s really wonderful.
Jasmine Toguchi, Mochi Queen by Debbi Michiko Florence – audiobook
Eight-year-old Jasmine Toguchi just really wants to do something first. As the younger sister, her sister always gets to try everything before she does. But maybe this once, she could be the first do something new. This is a great beginning chapter book and a perfect introduction to audiobooks for kids just getting into them.
