What We Gave Tally for Her 8th Birthday
It is a WEIRD thing for your baby to turn 8 years old!
We celebrated with breakfast in bed (our most beloved birthday tradition borrowed from my parents!), dinner at my sister’s house and a fancy chocolate and raspberry trifle made by Ella!
And, of course, some gifts!
Here are the birthday gifts she received from us, her siblings, and her grandparents!
Birthday gifts for 8 year olds
SCOOTER
We got Star a scooter for her birthday last week and we knew the girls would love both having their own scooters to bop around the neighborhood on with their big group of friends who mostly all have scooters too!
PEARL MESH FLATS
Tally loves shoes and when I saw this pair (which is really similar to a pair I own and love!) I knew they’d be a hit. And indeed they are – perfect for spring and Easter!
JUNIOR FOOTBALL
Bart picked this out and Tally was thrilled to have one that was a size she could manage. She’s been asking nonstop to throw it around in the yard and it has been nice of the weather to cooperate – it has been warm and sunny all week!
RUBIX CUBE
I don’t know how Tally got hooked on these but she has wanted one for ages and Star made that birthday wish come true. She’s spent the last several days watching videos trying to figure out how to solve it!
CLAY AND CLAY TOOLS KIT
This was Ani’s gift to Tally – I think we’ve had clay as gifts for the last several years either for birthdays or Christmas. It is always a hit!
DRAWING BOOK
Ella LOVES drawing and art and she thought this would be a fun book for them to do together. Often Ella will suggest they draw but Tally feels like she doesn’t know what to draw so this solves that problem neatly!
DRESS WITH POCKETS
This dress was a gift from my parents and it is so darling! Perfect for spring and summer (and it goes nicely with the one my parents bought for Star for her birthday).
LEGO HEART SET
Just hours before we opened birthday gifts, someone asked Tally what her favorite things to do were and her first response was “LEGOs!” so this second gift from my parents was a home run.
POEMS FROM WHEN WE WERE VERY YOUNG
Bart’s parents always give their grandkids books for their birthday and this was the pick this year. It was especially fun because we’ve been memorizing a lot of poetry this year in homeschool AND just the week before, Tally had found all the Rosemary Wells books in the library and checked out a big stack! She dove immediately into this book, reading us a half dozen poems aloud!
Happy birthday to our 8 year old girl!
