Really GREAT Book Deals for a Fall Weekend

After a crazy week, all l’m looking for this weekend is to read in bed (I’m loving this month’s book club book!) and start a new Halloween puzzle!

Here are some book deals you won’t want to miss!

The Power of Moments book

The Power of Moments by Chip Heath & Dan Heath – ebook – $2.99
This was the December book for the 2024 Everyday Reading Book Club and I blew through the audiobook in 24 hours. It’s not very long but it is super readable and so applicable to parents, families, and individuals. How DO you create more memorable and meaningful moments in your life? This book has a LOT of hands-on ideas for making it happen.

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid – ebook – $2.99
I have read every book she’s written (this one is my favorite) so I didn’t want to skip this one and it didn’t disappoint! Four famous siblings throw a huge party every summer in Malibu. But this year? The mansion burns to the ground during the party. I listened to the audio version and it was so well done. I’m still thinking about it years later – she is such a master at a large cast of characters. (Full review here)

when breath becomes air book

When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi – ebook – $2.99
This memoir published after the author’s early death from lung cancer will basically rip your heart out, but also make you so glad to be alive. In the past, we’ve done family reunion book clubs and if we did another one, this would be in my top three book club suggestions for sure. (Full review here)

the vanderbeekers

The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street by Karina Yan Glaser – audiobook – $4.99
This fun story follows five siblings who are about to lost their beloved brownstone home in Harlem, thanks to a cantankerous (and mysterious) landlord who refuses to budge. If you’re looking for a book with similar vibes to The Penderwicks, this is an unbeatable option. (Plus, this one is a Libro.FM deal so you can use it to make a Yoto card!)

The Undead Fox of Deadwood Forest by Aubrey Hartman – audiobook – $5.00
I’ve been meaning to read this one about a fox who is destined to usher wandering souls and wants to change their destiny, aloud to my girls after it became a Newbery Honors winner. (Plus, this one is a Libro.FM deal so you can use it to make a Yoto card!)

An Unfinished Love Story: A Personal History of the 1960s by Doris Kearns Goodwin – audiobook – $4.99
In the last years of her husband Dick’s life, beloved historian Doris Kearns Goodwin and Dick finally opened more than 300 boxes of letters, diaries, and memorabilia he’d saved from his time working for JFK, LBJ, and RFK. Part memoir, part history, this sounds like a fascinating, personal look at the 1960s.

The Academy by Elin Hilderbrand and Shelby Cunningingham – audiobook – $4.99
This was one of my books for my October Book of the Month box last year and I was pretty into it! Boarding school book? Feels perfect for this time of year! This is the book I was picking up when during family reading each day as part of homeschool – I was hooked.

Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson – audiobook – $4.99
This is by the same author as Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, and has the same kind of murder mystery vibes. It follows Jet, who is brutally attacked after a Halloween party and left for dead. When she survives, she learns a traumatic brain injury will likely kill her within a week, so she sets out to solve her own attempted murder before time runs out. (A heads-up: there is some swearing in this one.)
