Raiding My Sister’s Closet: Trying Out a Trend (Leather edition)
When we decided to do leather for our next round of “Trying Out a Trend,” I had grand visions of leather pants or a leather pencil skirt.
But, I’m just not sure I could pull of leather leggings (actually, I know it. I tried some on a few weeks ago and they were decidedly not that flattering on me). And my goal, always, when I do clothing posts is to share outfits I actually wear in real, child-chasing, life.
So, in the end, I went tried-and-true with my leather (so much for branching out). But I have never actually worn my leather boots with a dress or skirt (I live a very sheltered life), so this was a bit of a stretch for me.
And, what do you know? I liked how it looked.
Trying new things for the win.
Welcome to the world of boots with dresses! This looks awesome! (I think you in leather leggings would be something I'd have to see to believe 🙂
You've just described what I wear almost all winter. With tights or leggings or my fleece lined leggings as the weather gets colder. Love the boots!
I love your boots! And the leopard print scarf.
Love those boots! You look chic and beautiful.
Boots with skirts and dresses are a lifesaver in the winter!
I love this look! How funny that you don't normally do boots with dresses or skirts. I love your transparency and again, how "real" you are. I saw Merrick's leather skirt post and although it was super super cute, I don't think I could pull it off. So I thought, "I wonder if Janssen will be as daring?" Clicking onto the link to your blog I was happy to see that you picked something more practical and yet totally fashionable. Do you feel like you've stepped out of your comfort zone with this look? I absolutely love it. I think I will give it a try this week – LBD, boots, and leopard scarf. Love love love!
LOVE those boots. Also, what happened to the leather vest?? Didn't you take outfit pictures of that in NYC?
Leather boots and dresses is pretty much the staple of my teacher wardrobe these days . . . .
