Baseball and Buffalo
Almost three years ago, Merrick mentioned in passing that she never pins anything on her Pinterest style boards that doesn’t include at least one thing she owns (or very similar). Her goal isn’t to have a Pinterest board of outfits that she can’t recreate, but instead inspiration for how to wear things already in her closet.
I think of this all the time (I don’t know that I follow it exactly, but I try), and so I keep an eye out when I’m browsing Pinterest for things that I already own or can make work with my closet.
So when I saw this outfit from Seven Layer Charlotte, I thought, “Hey I have a baseball tee. And a plaid scarf. Also jeans.” And voila; dressed in five seconds (and then five seconds again three days later when I repeated the outfit exactly).
Also, I’m wearing this buffalo plaid scarf (which I made last year for $5 in about ten minutes) practically every day. It’s warm, it’s trendy, and from many angles, it somewhat disguises the fact that I’m getting more pregnant by the moment.
(When I was looking at the tutorial post I did for it last year, I kept thinking, “I WAS SO THIN!” I am definitely looking forward to being thin again next spring).

Honey- you are thin, and I luv you just the way you are – you are growing another human being, and your track record so far is great so you go girl!
Perfect fall outfit! Buffalo plaid is one of my very favorite patterns for fall! Also, I agree with what CoolGreenDays said up there! 🙂
I had a brief moment last week when I was browsing old pics and mourning my flat stomach from the spring. Other than that, I'm actually pretty pumped abt the belly – it's so wild! (clearly, i'm in my 2nd trimester and am pregnant for the first time)
I love that outfit… and I have a very similar baseball tee so it's totally happening! Sadly, I looked for buffalo plaid fabric the other day and couldn't find any but I'll keep searching! I need a scarf like that! (Need in the best first-world sense, of course. =) You look great!
Janssen,
I just wanted to tell you that I read your blog faithfully, and I love it! While I was washing the dishes this morning, I thought, "I need to leave a comment on Everyday Reading!" I never comment, but I wanted to let you know how much I like what you're doing. I am especially loving all the posts from London. We are having a family reunion next summer in England (just booked the cutest old chapel for lodging in the Cotswolds), and I am definitely bookmarking your posts for attractions with kids. Between my sister and I, we'll have four littles, and so it's great to hear what works and what doesn't. Thanks!
That wood watch is amazing!
I have those 2 things as well…totally recreating this outfit! And you are still super thin…just with a cute little bump to make you look that much more adorable! (at least you're not like me and gain a belly AND a chunky face…ahhh!)
I just found your blog today and I want to tell you that your contribution to this world wide web is just wonderful! Thanks for creating this lovely space.
