Non Update
Still no baby. I think our parents are starting to think I might not actually be pregnant, and that this has all been an elaborate farce.
At my doctor’s appointment yesterday, they informed me that I’d made no progression since the appointment five days earlier (although the non-stress test did show that I was having somewhat more frequent and stronger contractions, even if I can’t really feel them).
And now I’m scheduled for an induction on Friday.
I haven’t wanted to get induced because your risks of c-section and other complications go up when you’re induced, but at this point, I’m getting more worried about this baby getting too big for my little body, not to mention the fact that I have a one-way plane ticket to Austin in two and a half weeks and I’d rather not go straight from the hospital to the plane, thank you very much.
Also, whatever your suggestions for inducing labor, well, I’ve almost certainly done it. I’m still walking close to three miles a day (and even ran a good portion of it on both Friday and Saturday), I’ve eaten spicy foods and pineapple, and done the stairs in my apartment (four stories) multiple times. This baby is not impressed.
I haven’t stooped to castor oil yet, though. On Easter Sunday, I watched Jamie drink it and I still haven’t recovered from just watching it.

I've been induced once, and my only advice to you is not to let them break your water early if your cervix is not open a ways. Painful. Just say no! Other than that, my induction went swimmingly. You'll be fine, and however that baby gets here will be irrelevant once you hold her in your arms.
I was also induced b/c he was just too happy and didn't want to come out! My body also didn't progress past 4cm, so I had a C-Section. Looking back it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.
Please email if you have questions!
At least she will be here on Friday!
Friday! Ahh yay! Good luck! You'll do great, I'm so excited for you. I hope it goes perfectly. Enjoy every second of labor/delivery, as crazy as it is, it's really just so magical! I can't wait to hear about it. Send me a text, I'd love to bring you some treats in the hospital if you feel up to it! Sending positive vibes your way. 🙂
i was induced with all five of mine. i would do it again in a heartbeat! you will do great 🙂
If you are induced and have to have a c-section, it isn't the end of the world. Remember that there are times when it is safer for you and the baby. I'm praying that you will go into labor before Friday and that your body works perfectly.
Hope you don't get two comments from me. Error message the first time…
If it makes you feel better, I went into active labor about 24ish hours before my scheduled induction and had my sweet little boy 12 or more hours before. Hopefully the same will happen to you!
Now that she's threatened with eviction she may get a move on. Time to get our of those cramped quarters, girl! Chris
The cream cheese is a new one. Maybe we should take a little trip to Worcester! 🙂
To calm your fears- c sections are not that bad. I have a bad reaction to the drugs, but I would have had the same problem with an epidural.
Anyway- the recovery from my first c section was no problemo! I think my second was harder because I had to deal with two three year olds and a new baby at the same time. I do not recommend that one.
Good luck with whatever happens! You'll be in my thoughts!
I too didn't want to be induced…but my second was once again five days over due and I was worried about her health (plus she ended up being 9 1/2 lbs – who knows what she would have weighed had I waited). The doctor recommended an induction and I agreed and it was a very pleasant experience, I must say. Labor and delivery was much easier than with my first.
Good luck!
Err… I meant to say that both my first and second were five days overdue – though I did go into labor with my first eventually…for 36 hours….not so much with Ms. Pants. She was just taking her sweet sweet time.
Maybe she'll be like T. I was scheduled for induction in the morning at 6:00, but he decided it would be fun to be born at 3:30am instead. He also decided 1:30 would be a good time to start labor. I recommend dragging it out longer than 2 hours… pass that along to the baby, ok?
When I was induced with J, it was totally awesome. The doc broke my water, started the petocin (sp?), and I watched movies and slept until he came 9 hours later. They say if your body is at a certain point, the risks aren't really any greater than a normal birth.
I'm betting on a thurs birth for you anyway. Best, whenever it might be.
I was induced as well and lucky for me I started having labor pains before they even started the pitocin. So…maybe that will happen for you?? I wish you the best. I know it's nerve racking to wait though. Good luck!
Don't know about your castor oil friend, but it did work for me… glass full of ice, 3/4 full of orange juice, and three TBSP of c.o. STIR, STIR, STIR! and then use a straw. I didn't even taste it (but it went down pretty fast)… within three hours I was in labor. Either way, GOOD LUCK!!
xo
Sweet Janssen – I had one the normal labor way and one induced (Edward will tell you – he was warm, being carried around, and just fat & happy!!!!) and either way is just fine! I loved Labor and Delivery both times – and would do that part a dozen times! Enjoy the process and soak in every moment!!!! Good Luck! My prayers are with you and Bart and Miss Baby Everyday Reading! xoxo
Find a lawn to mow. That's my suggestion for inducing labor!
I didn't want to be induced with my babies, either, but it still happened with most of them. You will still have an awesome labor and delivery and in the end, all that matters is the baby in your arms anyway! I will be sending GOOD vibes your way!
I'm sure you've heard it before…everyone's body is different. I was having contractions and dialating for 6 weeks and at exactly 39 weeks I went into active labor. My best friend on the other hand had nothing nothing nothing her whole pregnancy at at exactly 39 weeks she went into active labor.
That sounds SO frustrating – good luck with the induction! Or hopefully going into full labor on your own beforehand!
🙂 It is because she wants to be like me and come on July 23rd! maybe around 4pm? ah ah? Funny story I was born a day early because the doctor wanted to play golf…
In all seriousness I hope everything goes smoothly!!
note: no lifting for 2 weeks after c-section. no stairs. seriously. you can mess yourself up.
