Mid May Book Deals

This is our big packing weekend, so it’s highly unlikely I’ll be doing any reading. But I hope YOU get to do some reading this weekend.

Here are some great books on sale to bulk up your TBR list this weekend!

The Day the World Came to Town by Jim DeFede – ebook
I just snatched this one up for my own summer reading. My friend Jessica (who is a big reader too) recommended this book to me after she saw the musical Come From Away which is based on this book. It is a true story set in a tiny town in Newfoundland where 38 jetliners had to land after U.S. airspace was closed down following the 9/11 attacks. Although the passengers nearly doubled the population, this small town welcomed their accidental visitors, bringing them into their homes until they were able to leave.

How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen so Kids Will Talk by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish – ebook
This is one of the classic parenting books and I loved it when I read it years ago. Now that my kids are getting older, I need to read it again!

Stargzing by Jen Wang – ebook
This was a recommendation from a library event and when Ella realized it was a graphic novel, she had me requesting it from the library on my phone before we’d even left. It follows two Chinese-American girls who, despite having similar backgrounds, are extremely different but quickly become best friends. Until tragedy strikes.

The Happiness Project, or Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun by Grethen Rubin
I LOVE Gretchen Rubin and this book, which really made a name for her, is so delightful and perfect for a reset time, which is what I see the beginning of summer as. (Full review here)
