Our Lord of the Rings Halloween Costumes
Look, nobody is more surprised than I am that we’re doing family Halloween costumes year after year.
I’ve never really loved dressing up and I spent a solid 20 years avoiding costumes as much as possible.
But our kids are SO INTO IT that I can’t help but go along with it and it turns out when you get a GOOD costume, it’s a lot more fun than scrounging something together at the last second.
This year, after months of debate, we settled on Lord of the Rings costumes and I’m SO happy with how it all came together.
Even better, my beloved long-time blog photographer Heather Mildenstein offered to take our photos this year – we’ve never had them taken professionally! – and it was such a weight off my shoulders for her to take them instead of trying to wrangle the tripod and remote.
We got SUPER lucky with the weather – it had snowed and rained on and off most of the day but cleared up literally minutes before we were scheduled to meet and we had perfect light up the canyon for these photos.
I was thrilled with how they turned out!
