Our Family Princess Bride Costumes

A few weeks ago, I was at a friend’s house and someone asked her son what he was going to be for Halloween.

He said he’d been trying on costumes from their costume bin and trying to decide and I felt a stab of jealousy.

The idea of just picking a costume and going on your merry way sounded PRETTTTY good to me and I wondered why we keep doing these elaborate family costumes.

But then, earlier this week, we got in our full Princess Bride costumes and went to take our photos and everyone was so into it and they turned out so well that I remembered why I’m willing to make this kind of insane effort for my kids.

We stood around our buffet a few nights ago looking at all the years of family costumes and I’m so glad we’ve continued to do it and that it has been such a bonding family experience for us.

We’ve tossed around the idea of Princess Bride costumes for a few years but this year it finally snagged the “we’re actually doing this” spot.
