My Home Organization Books Suggestions

How to Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis, LPC
This book is very short – you can read the whole thing in an hour or two – but I’ve been thinking about it endlessly since I read it. If you feel overwhelmed by keeping up your house for whatever reason, this book is for you. I’ve never read a cleaning/organizing/housework book like this one.

Minimalista: Your Step-by-Step Guide to a Better Home, Wardrobe, and Life by Shira Gill
I took this book out to my back porch for a relaxing afternoon read, and ended up cleaning out 8 drawers and my entire bathroom counter. Consider this your warning: pick it up and you’ll likely put it down 10 pages in…to go organize every shelf, cupboard, and drawer in your house.

The Home Edit: A Guide to Organizing and Realizing Your House Goals by Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin
An organizing book might not be YOUR idea of a good time, but I loved every page of this one! It was laugh-out-loud funny, full of inspiration, and you bet I have organized about my entire house since reading it. Now I just need better handwriting so I can label everything.

Remodelista: The Organized Home by Julie Carlson and Margot Guralnick
After blowing through Minimalista, I went on a home decor/organization book kick and this one is readable and jammed with gorgeous photos – just what I love! If you need a little inspiration around your house, grab a copy of this one!

Messy Minimalism by Rachelle Crawford
After feeling overwhelmed by too much stuff and a packed schedule, Rachelle Crawford discovered a practical approach to minimalism that’s focused on purpose instead of perfection. She is all about owning less and living more fully by reducing waste, curbing consumption, decluttering, and learning to become a more conscious consumer.

Organized Living by Shira Gill
From the author of Minimalista, this book takes you inside the homes of 25 professional organizers from around the world to see how they keep their own spaces tidy and functional. It’s full of inspiring photos, interviews, and organizing hacks, that will make you want to organize your home.

Cozy Minimalist Home by Myquillin Smith
I love all her interior design books – they’re not like any other I’ve read! They really focus on making the most of what you have and not just buying ten thousand throw pillows at Target. Plus, it’s so refreshing to see a real house, not a million photos of a completely unattainable space.

Two other books on organization that Instagram recommended!

The Holistic Guide to Decluttering by Michelle Vig
This one goes way beyond just the physical space of the home – it also focuses on decluttering your calendar/time, and your mind (because decluttering is more than just cleaning out the closet)! It also includes step-by-step tutorials, as well as, helpful tools and worksheets.

How to Manage Your Home Without Losing Your Mind by Dana K. White
If you have every been in an absolute panic when the doorbell rings, because what people can’t see behind your door is an absolute mess…this is your book! With plenty of humor and practical advice, this one shares simple realistic habits and step-by-step tips that make decluttering and keeping up with housework actually doable.
