Book Deals to Wrap Up August

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

We’re sneaking a few last lake trips this weekend before the weather turns and having friends over for dinner and backyard games on Sunday night.

Plus, I’m hoping to sneak in a little reading on the back deck.

There are LOTS of deals going on this weekend including Kindles being on sale! (This is the Kindle I bought at the same price on Prime Day in July!).

Carrie Soto Is Back

Carrie Soto Is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid – hardcover
It’s very rare that I link a physical book copy deal – but I couldn’t resist this screaming deal of one of my favorite Taylor Jenkins Reid books (under $5, yes please!) Carrie Soto is THE BEST tennis star. But when a young player starts gunning for her title, Carrie comes out of retirement and will do anything to keep that title.

the outlaw noble salt

The Outlaw Noble Salt by Amy Harmon – ebook
I know I am not supposed to pick favorites, but I might admit that this book might have snagged my #1 spot in my 2024 Summer Reading Guide. This historical romance about Butch Cassidy, one of America’s most notorious train/bank robbers in the Old West, was everything I didn’t know I needed.

salt to sea book

Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys – ebook
I’ve enjoyed all of her YA historical fiction books, but I haven’t read this one yet, despite the fact that it’s been recommended to me approximately forty million times. Now I can get myself a copy that won’t be due back to the library.

mac b kid spy

Mac Undercover: Mac B. Kid Spy: Book #1 by Mac Barnett – audiobook –
You may know Mac Barnett as an author but before that? He was a spy for the Queen of England in this series that the publisher calls James Bond meets Diary of a Wimpy Kid. It’s filled with a nice dose of historical facts. Smart and funny, this is a winner series. All of the series is on sale, actually, aside from the 6th book! (And because this one is a Libro.FM deal, you can use it to make a Yoto card!)

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett – audiobook
This classic has been a favorite with several of my girls! (And because this one is a Libro.FM deal, you can use it to make a Yoto card!)

The Lying Game by Ruth Ware – audiobook
I had been meaning to read a Ruth Ware book for literally YEARS and finally picked up her 2023 release in the fall and then went on to read most of her books in quick succession. This one, about the dangerous game four girls played in their teen years, has come back with sinister consequences.

City Spies by James Ponti – audiobook
City Spies is the story of five kids from all over the world brought together to operate out of a secret MI6 base in Scotland, working on cases that adults can’t get anywhere near. It’s clever and funny and fast-paced and a total kid pleaser. This is the first in the series which currently has 5 books. (This one is a Libro.FM deal so you can use it to make a Yoto card!).

where the red fern grows movie

Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls – paperback
This book is just SO GOOD. I was worried my girls wouldn’t be into it (it’s about a young boy in the Ozark and his hunting dogs), but they were SO into it. I absolutely cried my face off at the end of it, which is always a sign of the very best books.
