Book Deals for the Weekend of May 23

School got out yesterday and we’re officially on summer break!

One of my summer goals is to catch up on my reading (I’m currently 18 books behind on my Goodreads goal!) and I’m glad to see so many good book deals going on this weekend!

The Unthinkable

The Unthinkable: Who Survives When Disaster Strikes–and Why by Amanda Ripley – ebook – $1.99
We’re reading this for the Everyday Reading Book Club right now, and I am completely fascinated by it. I’ve been talking my husband’s ear off about it every night! It explores how people respond during disasters and difficult situations, and oddly enough, instead of making me feel more anxious, it’s actually made me feel calmer and more hopeful about how people come together when hard things happen.

ramona quimby

Ramona Quimby Audio Collection – audiobook – $6.99
My girls have listened non-stop to every Ramona book. There’s a reason they’re still so popular, all these years later. We love this audiobook collection for under $7! It’s a steal for 19 hours of audio (8 books in 1). (Plus, this one is a Libro.FM deal so you can use it to make a Yoto card!)

Frog and Toad

The Frog & Toad Audio Collection by Arnold Lobel – audiobook – $4.99
Read by the author, these are just SO delightful. They have fun music and I just feel happy whenever I hear these in the car or playing in our house. I love every single one of these sweet stories and my girls have listened to the whole collection a million times – it’s the audio collection that got my toddlers into audiobooks. (This one is a Libro.FM deal so you can use it to make a Yoto card!)

How to Plot a Payback by Melissa Ferguson – audiobook – $3.99
This is another one by Melissa Ferguson that I read last spring. She writes clean romance with lots of mishaps and funny dialogue – I don’t think her writing is as hilarious as Sophie Kinsella but they’re definitely fun romance reads. This one is my favorite of hers so far!

It's a Love Story

It’s a Love Story by Annabel Monaghan – audiobook – $4.99
This book was an absolute delight! This funny, heartwarming story is about former child star Jane Jackson, who’s built a polished new life on the mantra “fake it till you make it.” But when one little lie sends her to Long Island with her old crush (and current nemesis) to chase down a pop star from her past, Jane might just find something real where she least expects it.

funny you should ask book

Funny You Should Ask by Elissa Sussman – audiobook – $4.99
Chani is a young journalist who wants to make it big, and when she interviews her celebrity crush, it is a life-changing experience both professionally and personally. Ten years later, they meet again and both realize that the 72 hours spent during the interview meant more than they thought. I blew through this one on audio. This one is on par with Book Lovers, steaminess wise.

Doing Small Things With Great Love: How Everyday Humanitarians Are Changing the World by Sharon Eubank – audiobook – $4.99
This thoughtful book is all about how meaningful service often starts right where you are. Drawing from years of humanitarian work, Sharon Eubank shares 12 practical, encouraging principles for helping others, by creating real change, and strengthening communities for the long haul.

Maisie Dobbs

Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear – audiobook – $4.99
If you are looking for a 2026 Summer Reading Guide book on a budget, this is a great option! This crazy popular mystery series follows Maisie Dobbs who worked on the French front as a nurse during WWI and is now trying to put her life back together after the war, working as a private investigator. You couldn’t ask for a better heroine to cheer on. (Full review here)

mother daughter murder night

Mother-Daughter Murder Night by Nina Simon – audiobook – $3.99
This one is described as “Gilmore Girls, but with murder” as a grandmother, mother, and daughter trio try to solve the murder next door. We read this for 2025 Everyday Reading Book Club, and it was such a fun read (and phenomenal on audio)!
