Book Deals for a Weekend in November
I cannot believe it is the weekend before Thanksgiving!
We’re spending the holiday with my sister and her family and I can’t wait. It requires a plane flight, so I’m looking forward to lots of reading and audiobook listening while we travel!
Here are my favorite book deals this week!
(P.S. Don’t miss the 3 free months of Amazon Music Unlimited deal that just launched – it is especially exciting because now you get to listen to a free audiobook every month with your membership and you can choose from ANY book in the Audible catalog including brand new releases and huge bestsellers!).
Juniper’s Christmas by Eoin Colfer – ebook – $2.99
I love a Christmas read-aloud in December and this one sounds like the perfect read aloud. A young girl named Juniper sets out on a wild adventure to find her mother and protect the public park just days before Christmas. I can’t wait for all the extra Christmas spirit!
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt – audiobook – $5.99
I wasn’t sure about this one, but I ended up really enjoying it. Each chapter alternates between three seemingly unconnected characters – one, being an octopus at an aquarium.
Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson – audiobook – $5.99
Just Mercy is a non-fiction account by lawyer Bryan Stevenson of one of his early cases trying to exonerate a man on Death Row, plus a look at the current state of the U.S. justice and prison systems. It’s no exaggeration to say that this book changed my life. I think it should be required reading for every person.
The Match by Sarah Adams – audiobook – $2.99
I have read 4 of Sarah Adams’ books and just love how delightfully fun and fluffy they are (The Rule Book – which is also on ebook sale for $1.99 – is my favorite of hers so far). This one is all about finding love where you least expect it…and for Evie Jones it’s while helping a 10-year-old girl with epilepsy find the perfect service dog. Evie thinks she has already found the love of her life in her own service dog, but when sparks begin to fly between Evie and Jacob – the father of the young girl – she might find healing and love when she needs it most.
Last Christmas in Paris by Hazel Gaynor & Heather Webb – audiobook – $4.99
This historical fiction Christmas book is set in WWI and is written entirely in letters (a format I don’t normally go for). Evie’s brother and his best friend are headed off to the front, but like most people, they assume the war will be over by Christmas and they have grand plans to spend it together in Paris. Of course, it doesn’t go that way. I HIGHLY recommend the audiobook – the narration is so good! (Full review here)
Graceling by Kristin Cashore – audiobook – $5.99
Fantasy is NOT my genre of choice but there are a few fantasy books that I just absolutely devoured and Graceling is one of them. This one is REALLY fun, where certain people, called Gracelings, have a specific special power. The companion book, Fire, is even better. (Full review here)
One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus – audiobook – $5.99
This young adult novel is about five students who get stuck in detention together and one of them dies. The one who dies ran a gossip site about his classmates at the school and the other four were all scheduled to have stories about them go up the following day. Which means all of them had motive.
Big Nate Audio Collection: Books 1-4 by Lincoln Peirce – audiobook – $4.99
I know Big Nate isn’t for everyone, but if it’s a hit at your house, this is the moment to grab the audiobook collection (Books 1-4 and more than 7 hours of run time) for a major deal! (This one is a Libro.FM deal so you can use it to make a Yoto card!)
Amari and the Night Brothers by B. B. Alston – audiobook – $6.99
I read this aloud to my children and we were all completely sucked in! Amari’s mourning the disappearance of her beloved older brother (the police say he’s almost certainly dead), but when she gets a pre-recorded message from him, she discovers that there is a supernatural world she’s known nothing about and that her brother was heavily involved before his disappearance. Joining this world isn’t going to be easy, but she’s willing to do whatever it takes to find out what happened to her brother. And she better mean it, because “whatever it takes” turns out to be a LOT. (This one is a Libro.FM deal so you can use it to make a Yoto card!)
