Weekend Book Deals for the Middle of September

Happy Birthday to me!

We’re adventuring with friends this weekend which feels like a fun way to celebrate and I’m hoping for some good family audiobook listening on the drive.

Here are some of my favorite book deals going on this weekend (and don’t miss the Kindle Unlimited deal that ends tomorrow – you can get 3 months for the price of 1!)

ALSO, if you’re a Yoto Club member, this weekend you can use the code NEWCLUB to get 40% off a pack of Make Your Own Yoto cards (either the 5 or 10 pack).

East of Eden by John Steinbeck
This is one of those classics that I cannot believe I haven’t read yet! It focuses on two different families in Salinas Valley, California – the Trask and the Hamilton families.

Upstairs at the White House

Upstairs at the White House: My Life with the First Ladies by J. B. West and Mary Lynn Kotz
These stories of life in the private quarters of the White House from the chief usher who worked from FDR’s administration through Nixon are FANTASTIC. We read this one for Everyday Reading Book Club in 2021 and it was HUGELY popular. (Full review here)

my papi has motorcycle book

My Papi Has a Motorcycle by Isabel Quintero
This was one of my FAVORITE picture books published in 2019 about a little girl and her father going for a motorcycle ride around their neighborhood in Corona, California. This book is so engrossing, making me feel like I’m right there on the motorcycle ride with them. (Plus, it’s a Libro.fm book, so you can make your own Yoto card with it!)

The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams
The classic story of how a toy becomes real. This one is also LONG, so this is one of the best audiobooks because I feel like you’re really getting your money’s worth – plus, who can turn down a FREE audiobook! (And, it’s a Libro.fm book, so you can make your own Yoto card with it!)

Efren Divided

Efren Divided by Ernesto Cisneros
American-born Efrén Nava and his younger siblings live with their Amá and Apá and while their life includes a lot of hard work, it’s also loving and happy. But everything falls apart when his Amá is deported to Mexico and it falls on Efrén to take care of his siblings and attempt to reunite his family. This was an 2022 Everyday Reading Book Club book and I loved it!

My Weird School Special: 365 Days of Weird! Audio Collection by Dan Gutman
This is a silly series reminds me of the Wayside School series. It is geared more for beginning readers, but all the adults at Ella Mentry School are just a little bit weird…maybe REALLY weird! This collection included 6 stories with more than 6 hours of run time. My seven year old LOVES this series.
