8 Book Deals for a Mid December Weekend

Happy Saturday!

We’re getting closer to Christmas vacation and I’m sprinting to finish up all my work projects before then (and sneaking in some time for holiday books and puzzles!).

An Unexpected Boyfriend for Christmas is on this list, but I wanted to make sure to call it out specifically here – it’s been one of my favorite holiday listens this year and I’ve gotten SO many DMs from people who loved it this year too. It’s 99 cents right now for the audiobook but that deal ends on Sunday night, so grab it now while it is so cheap!

8 Book Deals for a Mid December Weekend

An Unexpected Boyfriend for Christmas by Janette Rallison – audiobook
This is a new one by Janette Rallison – one of my favorite romance authors. I listened to it, and it was DELIGHTFUL! Now is the time to snag it for the holidays. (If you’re new to Chirp, it’s a flash deal site for audiobooks – no monthly subscription and no membership. Just grab a book when it’s on super sale and you own it forever).

Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty – ebook
I’ve been a Liane Moriarty fan since I first read What Alice Forgot back in 2011. I’ve also read The Hypnotist’s Love StoryThe Husband’s Secret, Big Little Lies and of course Truly Madly GuiltyI read the whole thing in about two days! (Full review here)

The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey – audiobook
If you haven’t already picked up a copy of this month’s Everyday Reading Book Club pick, now is the chance. I have been really enjoying this one set in Alaska in the 1920s, following a couple who has recently arrived trying to make it as homesteaders. It’s pretty bleak for them until they find a little girl, Faina, who lives alone in the forest.

The Happy Life of Isadora Bentley by Courtney Walsh – audiobook
I listened to this story about a reclusive university researcher who has given up on love (and basically all relationships) on my runs this summer and it was a nice distraction from the miles I was pounding out. The heroine is Isadora who finds a magazine article with 31 ways to be happy and decides she’s going to prove the author wrong – she’ll do all 31 things and there is no way she’ll be happier at the end. Right? This is a squeaky-clean love story with a STEM storyline and it’s a fun, fluffy delight.

Sitting Pretty: The View from My Ordinary, Resilient, Disabled Body by Rebekah Taussig – audiobook
I listened to this one early last summer and it’s absolutely terrific. It really opened my eyes to a life experience that’s different than mine and it kind of feels like one of those books every human should read.

Lilac Girls by Martha Hall KellyLilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly – audiobook
This one about three separate women with interwoven lives during World War II has been on my TBR list for years. With it on sale and a holiday break looming, this might be my chance to read it!

The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor EstesThe Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes – audiobook
This beloved Newbery Honor book is about a girl named Wanda who is mocked at school for wearing the same old blue dress every day. She claims that at home she has 100 beautiful dresses, but her classmates know she’s lying.

Hidden Figures Young Readers' Edition by Margot Lee ShetterlyHidden Figures Young Readers’ Edition by Margot Lee Shetterly – audiobook
You may have read the full book or watched the movie of this amazing true story and this audiobook version lets you share the story with your younger children.
