More Favorite Yoto Player Cards
A few years ago, I did a post about our favorite Yoto cards, broken down by age.
Since then, as the Yoto Player Card library gets bigger and my girls have grown up a bit, I’ve had many requests for an updated list.
I had each of my four kids select their current favorite cards and they’re all listed below, broken down by the age they were when they made these choices. I hope it helps you decide which Yoto player cards might be hits with your kids!
P.S. If you’re looking to buy a Yoto player, my affiliate code is AFF-EVERYDAY10 for 10% off your first Yoto Mini or Yoto Player purchase.
And if you want ideas for storing cards, this post about Yoto card storage is for you!
Favorite Yoto Player Cards
Ella’s Favorite Yoto Player Cards (When she was 12)
- Kid Nuz Podcast. Ella loves this podcast and originally we had made a podcast card for it, but now you can get one directly from the Yoto card store! It automatically updates with new episodes if you’re connected to Wi-Fi.
- Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. Ella knew the title of this classic but didn’t know the story so this Yoto card was the perfect intro to this beloved story with an excellent audio production.
- Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan. Ella’s class was reading immigration stories and so she loved listening to this audiobook that went right along with what they were studying in class.
- Geronimo Stilton Collection. My girls have been Geronimo Stilton fans for years and years so I wasn’t surprised to see it show up on Ella’s list (it’ll show up again later on!).
Ani’s Favorite Yoto Player Cards (When she was 10)
- BrainBots: The Human Body collection. Last time we did a post about our favorite Yoto Player cards, Ani picked the BrainBots – Biggest Ideas Collection, so it’s no shock to see this newest BrainBots collection make the cut this time. She’s a non-fiction lover through and through!
- Horrible Histories Collection. This is labeled Volume 1 which means Ani is very hopeful that a Volume 2 is coming at some point.
- KIDZ BOP All-Time Greatest Hits. Ani loves listening to music and it’s fun to walk past her room and hear this card playing on her Yoto! We have most of the other Kidz Bop cars too.
- The Geronimo Stilton Collection. And. . .here it is. Ani also LOVES this collection.
Kristin’s Daughter’s Favorite Yoto Player Cards (when she was 8)
- Ella Enchanted – Ella Enchanted is a clever, funny twist on the Cinderella story—except in this version, Ella’s been cursed with obedience, and she has to do whatever she’s told. (Even if it’s awful.) Her journey to break the curse is full of adventure, danger, a charming prince, and a lot of heart. It’s witty, magical, and way more empowering than your typical fairy tale.
- The Tale of Despereaux – The Tale of Despereaux is a sweet and quirky story about a tiny mouse who falls in love with a princess and ends up on a big adventure. It weaves together the lives of this brave little mouse, a dramatic rat who hates the light, and a servant girl with a heartbreaking wish. It’s got that classic fairy tale feel, but with a little extra heart and humor.
- Dragon Tales – This card includes The Reluctant Dragon by Kenneth Grahame, along with three other dragon stories by Edith Nesbit. We particularly love The Reluctant Dragon, a sweet and funny little story about a boy who finds a gentle, poetry-loving dragon who just wants to live in peace. When the townspeople call in St. George to slay the beast, the boy has to come up with a clever plan to save his new friend.
Star’s Favorite Yoto Player Cards (when she was 6)
- The Chicken Squad Collection by Doreen Cronin. I was SO HAPPY when they added this collection to the Yoto Player card library and it’s been listened to many times by both of my little girls. At around 30-40 minutes per card, they’re a perfect chapter book for kids just getting the hang of longer books.
- Poems Out Loud. When I bought this poetry card it was a little bit aspirational – would my kids even listen to a poetry card? You can imagine my delight when, unprompted, Star chose it as a top five favorite Yoto Player card!
- The Fairytale Hairdresser. My girls can’t get enough of fairy tales and there are a bunch of collections on Yoto – this one is a good one!
- Ladybird Audio Adventures: The Animal Kingdom. We have LOTS OF the Ladybird Audio Adventures and they’ve been a hit with everyone at our house (I’m so happy they just released Volume 5!).
Jennifer’s Daughter’s Favorite Yoto Player Cards (when she was 7)
- Harry Potter Series – We are pretty big Harry Potter fans at our house. We started reading the books to our kids (age 7 and almost 5) last summer and are currently reading the fifth book aloud. We have given our kids the Yoto cards for books 1-4 to re-listen to and they both love them. It’s an unusual moment in our house when I can’t hear Jim Dale’s narration in the background- in fact it is playing right now while my kids are cleaning the basement.
- Boxcar Children – This one has been mentioned already, but these four cards are definitely listened to on repeat. It was such a fun way to catapult my daughter into this series!
- A little Princess– My daughter loved listening to this classic novel. We had fun discussing the book and the way Sara found joy amongst hardship through imagination and friendships. It was fun to watch the movie circa 1995 together after the book!
- Little Women – We had tickets to see this play together with some other friends on a mother-daughter date. It was fun to acquaint my daughter with this story and refresh my own memory of this classic! The full cast audio is delightful and really makes the story come to life. This card only covers part one of the story.
Tally’s Favorite Yoto Player Cards (when she was 6)
- Frog and Toad Audio Collection by Arnold Lobel. These were some of the first audiobooks Tally ever listened to, back before I’d even heard of a Yoto Player, and they continue to be some of the stories she most loves returning to. Arnold Lobel’s reading is just so excellent.
- Funnybones: The Collection by Allan Ahlberg. A short story collection is perfect for young listeners and this silly set is A+.
- Hotel Flamingo Collection by Alex Milway. This collection is WILDLY popular at our house and all my girls have listened to it many many times. Definitely worth the price.
- The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf. My girls watched the movie version a few months ago and that’s popped this card back to the top of the rotation!
- Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White. This full cast production led by Meryl Streep is not to be missed – just when you thought this beloved story couldn’t get any better!
Jennifer’s Son’s Favorite Yoto Cards (when he w 4)
- The Gruffalo and Friends Collection– We are big Julia Donaldson fans at our house. Her books are so creative and fun. I have read The Gruffalo so many times that I probably have it memorized. The yoto card has been a good fill in when I’m not available to read the book. He also likes to follow along with the picture book.
- The Magic Treehouse – The first 8 Magic Treehouse books are available on Yoto Cards. My almost five year old son is just getting into them and it has been a fun introduction to chapter books.
- Beatles Songs by Caspar Babypants – This has been a surprising favorite! These classic Beatles Song covers are so fun to listen to as a whole family!
- JJ Heller – She is one of my favorite artists and it is the perfect soothing music that is great to unwind to or turn on in the car when kids (or moms) need to calm down.
Kristin’s Daughter’s Favorite Yoto Player Cards (when she was 3)
- The Mercy Watson Pack – My older kids loved Mercy Watson as they learned to read and this collection has been a great introduction to the series for my three year-old. Mercy Watson is a good-natured, toast-loving pig who lives with her doting owners and gets into all sorts of hijinks. Every story is entertaining and silly.
- The Narwhal and Jelly Collection – The Narwhal and Jelly books have been a huge hit at our house! I wasn’t sure how the audiobooks would translate for graphic novels, but they are just as entertaining for my daughter because of the performance and different voices. Narwhal and Jelly might be opposites, but together they go on silly adventures, form a pod of awesomeness, and bond over waffles and books.
- Aladdin – The Disney cards were a great way to get my toddler into the habit of listening to her Yoto with something she was already familiar with. This version of Aladdin is just 34 minutes long so it’s just right for her attention span.
- MYO Cards – I love having a stash of Make Your Own cards so we can put their current favorite songs on them. We usually get our mp3 files from Amazon and Freegal. My daughter particularly loves her cards with songs from Bluey and another with the music from Disney’s Descendants!
Jennifer’s Daughter’s Favorite Yoro Player Cards (when she was 9 months)
- JJ Heller Music Cards – I dream of you Calm, I dream of you Sleep – I love JJ Heller. I find her voice so soothing and calming and turns out so does my 9 month old baby! She does a lot of covers of well known songs, but also has a few original songs. It’s wonderful car or background music and doesn’t get annoying like lots of kid music does.
I’d love to hear which Yoto cards have been a hit at your house! Let me know in the comments so other readers can benefit as well!
