Tell Me What To Read
You lovely readers were all very enthusiastic about the “Tell Me What To Read” idea (for which I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You all are great).
So here we go, Round 1! Tell me what book I should read in July. It can be any genre, any age level, and have been published last week or three hundred years ago. You can pick it because it’s a book that everyone should read or because it changed your life or because it is great literature or just because it entertained you.
Here’s how it goes:
- Comment with the title of one book you think I should read (any book you want). One title only, please, lest my brain explode.
- On the last day of the month (that’s tomorrow), I’ll select one comment at random.
- On the off-chance that I’ve already read the book you select, I’ll contact you and ask for a follow-up suggestion (make sure there is a way to contact you either by blog or email).
- I’ll get a copy of the book and read it by the end of July.
- I’ll write a review of it here. Even if I hate the book, I will not hate you.

These Is My Words by Nancy Turner. Oh I loved this book sooo much.
All the ones suggested are so great it is hard to recommend another but I would say
Innocent Traitor by Alison Weir
uh oh I feel lost, you are the one who gives me all the suggestions. (I seriously get all my book ideas from you!) I just finished the Hunger Games (after being on the LONG Provo Library waiting list, like you posted about, for like 6 mo!) And yes, it is now one of my favorite books. I COULD NOT put it down so I stayed up into the night reading it (something I rarely do because I am such an early to bed, early to rise kind of girl) only to find out it was part of a trilogy!!! (I had no idea!)Great news because I get to read more but when I looked at the clock and realized I just HAD TO stay up to find out what happened I just laughed!!!
So because it's all too backwards for me, I have no suggestions. hahahah

Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy.
I'm with Anne B., read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. And it's not because I've read it but because I've ordered it from Amazon to read right now for my own book group. Heard it's great!
Oryx and Crake, by Margaret Atwood (Atwood is a goddess of literature, and this is my favorite of hers, even though the NYT disliked it (pompous fools they are))!
The Angel's Game by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Only because I loved his first book and this one is now waiting on my Kindle for me to read. I have high expectations.
The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart.
The beekeeper's apprentice by Laurie R. King. I love her Russel and Sherlock mysteries and this is the first one. Besides, it's July, and I believe that one shouldn't read anything too serious during the summer.
Grapes of Wrath. John Steinbeck. The BEST American novel.
This is kind of tough because many of the books I read are your suggestions. I'm going to go with something nonfiction for my suggestion: Long Walk to Freedom – Nelson Mandela's autobiography.
