Summer Lovin’

Things I am loving right this very minute:

  • My kindle – I’m seriously reading like a maniac right now. (You can check out what I’m reading on Goodreads if you are so inclined).
  • Powder Play –  When we were in Las Vegas, Merrick introduced me to this stuff and then Mint Arrow mentioned that it was on big sale at Ulta. So obviously I bought some (she said it was only a one-day sale, but it’s still on sale. And use a 20% off coupon, obviously). It goes a long way to help combat my hair’s tendency to be super-mega flat.
  • Tillamook Ice Cream – You might know that I seriously love ice cream. But I’d never had Tillamook and now I’m super impressed by it and wondering how I will ever return to the east coast where they do not sell it.
  • OPI nail polish – When we were staying at Bart’s dad’s house for a day or two, they mentioned there might be some nail polish in the downstairs bathroom from Bart’s stepsister and there was and it was years old and my nails stayed looking great for a full week (with no top coat). I might need to buy some except . . . dude, that’s a lot of money for a bottle of nail polish.
  • This Shirt – I saw Ashley wearing this top a few weeks ago and it was online only, but then it happened to be in the store when I was there recently and obviously I bought one. Strongly considering buying the striped version too. I love the exposed zipper on the back and the half-sleeves. And that it’s thick enough you don’t have to wear anything under it.
(And this is the part where you tell me what YOU love. Or if you have any secrets to getting OPI nail polish on the cheap, you can share that too. If you want).

  1. The only time I'll buy OPI or Essie polish (because I could find a shirt or something for those prices!) is on clearance at Ulta. They usually have at least a few colors marked down.

  2. I just got a Kindle and am already in love with it! Will check out your Goodreads. Because I *need* to add more books to my to-read lol.

  3. I don't think your link for the 20% off coupon works… at least it didn't for me, or I didn't see it when I clicked through. It just took me to the Ulta.com website. Thoughts?

  4. I am loving one love organics skin saviour. It is pricey but so worth it! Seriously a miracle cream. I used to believe that food+genes would determine how your skin behaves but this balm proved me wrong big time.

  5. At least when you come back east you'll get Blue Bell again, that should make your ice cream transition a little easier on you!

  6. I buy the smaller 4 packs of OPI nail polish. They're usually around $10 and I get to try out whatever their newest collection is. I've seen the sets at Ulta but don't see any on their website.

  7. I did NOT need to know about that ice cream! 😉 Right now, I'm loving…Bath and Body Works' Lilac Blossom candles (reminds me of summers growing up in Michigan!).

  8. tilamook ice cream is the best. we always have at least three different flavors in our freezer at a time. we're spoiled now, though, and i can't ever go back to the other stuff. i used to count down the days until the dreyer's girl scout samoa ice cream would come out, but after eating tilamook all winter a couple years ago, i bought a carton of samoa ice cream when it was in season and didn't even finish the carton. plus, even though ice cream can't be classified as "healthy," it's at least got real, recognizable ingredients in it, which i love.

  9. I love Tillamook! And because it doesn't go on sale as much as other brands, I can't buy it as often. Win Win

  10. Swing by my house and you can get some bottles of gently used OPI For FREE since I have at least twenty and I haven't used them in forever. I used to buy them from Ulta's buy two get one free sales (which is still like $16 for three bottles). Or make friends with a hairstylist/beautician. I used to buy them at hair shows for like $10 for 6. Or they can go to these beauty supply stores where everything is super cheaper – I've resorted to that a few times too. I also like the mini baby bottles of OPI because I rarely use a whole bottle (hence the collection of unused nail polish). Also, I have become converted to Pure Ice (at wal mart) because I actually like it better than OPI/Essie and it's like 1.50 so I can buy as many as I want. I had a coworker once call me a fellow nail polish whore because we loved to paint up our nails so much. Now I have kids so it happens like never. AAAAANNNNDD That's my nail polish essay.

  11. Right now I love my free Essie nail polishes because they were free from my friend who makes them and you and your sister have encouraged me to paint my nails. Being a teacher and mom my hands work too hard so I stopped painting my nails bc they'd look horrible in just a few hours! But Essie actually lasts. And again, I've gotten mine for free!

  12. I find OPI at places like TJ Maxx and Marshalls. Essie too. I think Ulta also runs sales occasionally.
I rarely spend money on myself, but I went out with some friends tonight to see Meleficent. It was So. Good. NOT a kid's movie. Would be a good date movie, I think – something for everyone. I am not a theater person (Um, Netflix, RedBox = cheap), but this was really amazing.

  13. I'm behind on the conversation but sample nail bottles sound like a good idea because I never go through the entire bottle. By half way theough, it's old and thick anyway.
