Mid June Book Deals

Happy Saturday!

We are at a family reunion this weekend, staying up too late, eating lots of great food, and just having a great time.

Am I getting in a lot of reading this weekend?

Not so much . . .

But there are some great book deals going on!

little house in the prairie

Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder – audiobook
I grew up on these books (I lived in Wisconsin until I was almost 7 and we went to the rebuilt Little House in the Big Woods which I still remember very clearly) and waited my whole life to have children of my own to read them to. When Ella was in kindergarten, we read the first four books together and my girls have listened to the audio dozens of times since then. (This one is a Libro.FM deal so you can use it to make a Yoto card!).

Finding Me by Viola Davis – audiobook
One of my favorite non-fiction genres is memoirs – it’s so engaging to see someone tell their own story in their own words! (And if they read the audiobook version themselves, even better!). This audiobook is read by Viola herself…and it is so eye-opening to read about the life of this critically acclaimed actress and producer!

the blonde identity

The Blonde Identity by Ally Carter – audiobook
This is one of my picks for the 2024 Everyday Reading Summer Reading Guide and I FLEW through it! It’s funny, romantic and just dang fun. I have to say, it’s a perfect summer listen. Since this is a Chirp audiobook, there is no membership or subscription required – just buy and listen!

All Creatures great and small

All Creatures Great and Small: The Warm and Joyful Memoirs of the World’s Most Beloved Animal Doctor by James Herriot – audiobook
You cannot go wrong with a James Herriot book, a country vet in England who spends his days caring for farm animals and house pets after WWI. These books are sweet and funny and just right for snuggling up with (bonus: watch the very excellent PBS Masterpiece series after you’re done).

The Vanderbeekers to the Rescue by Karina Yan Glaser – ebook
This is the third installment of The Vanderbeekers series and in this one, the five Vanderbeeker siblings are determined to save another building from city officials…their mother’s bakery.

peak book

Peak by Roland Smith – ebook
Peak Marcello comes by his love of climbing naturally – his father (that he’s had no contact with for years) runs a climbing company in Thailand. Peak has a hard time channeling his love into legal climbing though, and gets himself arrested after he scales a skyscraper in New York City. His options are to go to juvie or go live with his father. Obviously the latter sounds better but when he and his father reunite, he discovers that his dad wants him to be the youngest person to ever successfully climb Everest.

slow productivity book

Slow Productivity: The Lost Art of Accomplishment Without Burnout by Cal Newport – ebook
I am a huge fan of Cal Newport’s books (Deep Work and Digital Minimalism are also fantastic!) and this one gave me SO MUCH to think about both in my work life and my personal life!

rich af

Rich AF: The Winning Money Mindset That Will Change Your Life by Vivian Tu – ebook
This is a fantastic personal finance book! I’m always getting asked for book recommendations for people who want to understand their finances and investing better and this is my new go-to suggestion that makes money feel fun, interesting and accessible.
