Chicka Chicka Tricka Treat by Julien Chung
In this festive companion to the beloved Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, the alphabet crew gets into the Halloween spirit with a creaky old tree adventure. As each letter climbs up, donned in their costumes, young readers can join in the fun with a new twist to the classic alphabet chant. It’s the perfect Halloween read for little ones!

this moment is special

This Moment Is Special! by John Parra
There are not nearly as many books about Día de Muertos as there are about Halloween, which makes me all the more excited to have a beautiful new one to add to the list. This story follows a young boy as he prepares for the celebration with his family.

dropbear book

Dropbear by Phillip Bunting
Even though this one doesn’t scream “Halloween”, I still loved its spooky-fun romp through the outback. When woodland creatures whisper warnings about a fearsome figure in the gum trees, one curious bird dares to investigate – only to discover that the scariest creatures aren’t always what they seem.

i hate everything book

I Hate Everything! by Sophy Henn

Tired of being cute and cuddly for Halloween, a little girl decides to go all out as the spookiest thing she can imagine…a witch! With Dad’s help, she perfects her look and powers, but when her reflection scares even her, only a little dad magic (and a nap) can save the night.

The Zombees by Justin Colón
A rhyming book about a zombie bee invasion? Count me in! Just tell me that it won’t happen in real-life.

grizelda the green hates halloween book

Grizelda the Green Hates Halloween by A. A. Livingston
Some Halloween books can be quite scary, but this witch book is what I would call “not-so-spooky”. When one grouchy witch plots to end Halloween, it turns out to be her most unforgettable holiday yet!

luna and the witch throw a halloween party book

Luna and the Witch Throw a Halloween Party by Aubrey Plaza and Dan Murphy; illustrated by Hannah Peck
Luna Lopez dreams of becoming a witch, and Pheenie the witch wants to throw the most spectacular Halloween party. So naturally, they strike a deal. But pulling it off proves trickier than expected, leading to a hilarious, spooky celebration full of magic, mishaps, and surprises!

scary shark book

This one no tricks and all treats! Edgar the Shark and his best friend Lotta dive into a hilarious Halloween adventure, turning a night of spooky fears into a fin-tastic celebration. They really are out to prove that Halloween is all about fun – not fear.

This charming cozy mystery follows the brilliant Hercule Poirot aboard a train to the French Riviera, brimming with missing jewels, curious clues, and colorful characters – plus engaging puzzles and activities that may even turn young readers into clever junior detectives.

wild moon book

Wild Moon: How the Lunar Phases Light Up Our World by Andie Powers, Illustrated by Lucy Rose
I really love holiday books you can enjoy all year long, and this nonfiction picture book about the moon fits the bill perfectly! Beautifully blending science and nature, it explores the eight phases of the moon and reveals how animals across different habitats adapt to each one, making it a must-read for curious minds and animal lovers alike.

vampire vs the beach book

Vampire vs. the Beach by Todd Tarpley
I just discovered a delightful new series called Festive Feuds, where iconic holiday characters go head-to-head to see who comes out on top. But when beachgoers push back, the rivalry heats up, and only a Summerween party can save the day!

Show-and-tell just got an upgrade – forget butterflies or baseball cards, it’s time to catch a ghost! But after all that ghost-hunting fun, you might find the real challenge isn’t just trapping one…it’s figuring out if you can create a friendship too.

the little ghost quilt's winter surprise book

The Little Ghost Quilt’s Winter Surprise by Riel Nason
I loved the classic charm of the first book, so I was thrilled to see this delightful follow-up. The little ghost quilt loves floating through the winter chill (a perk of being a quilt instead of a sheet!), but he misses sharing the festive lights and snowy magic with his friends stuck inside. After a close call with a blizzard, inspiration strikes – and he just might find a way to bring them along.
