4 Books I’m Currently Reading
I had high hopes that I’d get a ton of reading done this summer (one of my summer goals is to catch up on my reading goal!) but so far I’m just falling more behind.
It has been such a busy month!
But I’m reading some great books right now – here are four of them!

The Art of Noticing by Rob Walker
This was one of the books in the Proper Mountain Woman Club this session (I have a whole post about it here, if you’re curious) and I grabbed it on my Kindle. I’ve been reading a bit of it every night and it’s been a delight to read and a fun new way to look at the world!

The 22 Murders of Madison May by Max Barry
This is one I can’t remember why I put on hold at the library (story of my life) but it just came up and I’m excited to listen to this one about a serial killer and time travel.

It’s More Fun to Believe by Julie Taylor
I know Julie in real life and before that admired her from afar online for years! I went to her book launch party and it was so good – this is another book I’ve been slowly working my way through. I don’t want to just inhale it and move on!

Whistler by Ann Patchett
This is one of the books on my personal summer reading list and I started listening to it last week while I was driving up and back to girls camp. I’m so into it so far – it’s about a woman in her 50s who runs into her former stepfather that she hasn’t seen in decades (he was married to her mother for only a year or two when she was a child).
And here’s what my team is reading!

Strangers by Belle Burden
I put this one on the summer reading list and I was thrilled when it became available from my holds! I listened to Belle on The Oprah Podcast and knew I wanted to read her memoir as soon as I could. Once I started listening, I couldn’t stop. During the beginning of the pandemic, Belle, her husband and two of their children went to Martha’s Vineyard to stay safe. And with one voicemail, Belle’s life changes forever. This is not a feel good book, but it definitely was intriguing.

Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson
This is by the same author as Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, and has the same kind of murder mystery vibes. It follows Jet, who is brutally attacked after a Halloween party and left for dead. When she survives, she learns a traumatic brain injury will likely kill her within a week, so she sets out to solve her own attempted murder before time runs out. (A heads-up: there is some swearing in this one.)

The Night We Met by Abby Jimenez
This is Abby Jimenez’ newest book. It wasn’t my favorite of her books, but it was still a quick, fun read. I also like that her books have common characters in all her books but each book easily stand alone. After a concert, Larissa accepts a ride home from Mike instead of Chris and that decision sets her life on an unexpected path. As the year goes by, Larissa and Chris build a close friendship, co-parent a dog and share a lot of common interests. As their friendship builds, they don’t want to hurt Mike but also can’t deny their chemistry.
